re-BUILD LOG- IRON ISLAND RAILROAD

I myself was pondering the reason for the pond removal?

Looks good Kevin. Needs a road down into the strip mine and some heavy equipment for the operations

And of course a bunch of strippers. Um, ah, I mean miners. Ah, strip miners.

Well- it snowed today. Since I am allergic to the stuff, that officially marks the end of progress for this season. Tune in again in the spring for more low budget, mud slinging, half wit, enterTRAINment!

You would think all that hair would protect you from the white stuff?

Hey man- Somewhere between you and me… is the perfect haircut!

-Kevin.

He don’t go out in the snow cause when his hair gets snow covered everyone thinks Edgar Winter came back from the dead

Had to say it and besides that puts me in the middle with the perfect haircut!

Roosters don’t have hair, they have feathers. That means you have the perfect feather cut. Probably the only feather cut on this forum.

I hope you didnt get the 60 inches of snow? Looking forward to spring to see your progress and also start mine. Its going to be a looooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooong winter.

REMOVED THE POND!!!

But why?

Algae, fish feeding, frogs, evil fish munching blue herons, filter cleaning, winterizing, etc (see page 1)…

This time around I’m gonna go with a pondless water feature. I like the look and sound of running water, but pond maintenance… not so much.

I’m just dying to procure some more fill dirt from my favorite free source before old man winter fills the hole with snow!

The beatings will continue…

Haha the exact reasons why I wont put a pond in plus the bears would have a field day using one as a wallow.

Hey Kevin - I hope your house doesn’t look like my friend’s in West Seneca taken yesterday…

My brother in Clarence got 3".

I’m sorry I looked at that photo. Brings back exhausting memories. Ah, to live where it never snows or gets cold.

Shawn- No doubt, winter has already arrived. Waaaaay to early for me. I hope we both get an early start next season.

Jon- I lucked out. I’m closer to the airport, so we didn’t get pummeled as bad. It’s really kind of strange, we got a few inches on Tuesday and people a half mile away got a few feet. Of course, we’ve gotten quite a bit more since Tuesday, but not as bad as some folks.

I hope your friend has a roof rake- that roof isn’t gonna last long with that weight on it.

To add to this strange event- its going to get into the 50’s by Sunday with rain… can you say flood insurance!

-Kevin.

My friend is not healthy enough to clear it himself and his kids live far away. They are waiting on the National Guard who are helping out the elderly and disabled.

I lived through the '77 blizzard. That was enough for me. I did Temp work for the Clarence Highway Dept. after the storm shoveling out fire hydrants for a month!

Well, It’s here. It’s finally here. The moment you’ve all waited for. The rebuild continues. But wait. First some theme music…

Not your cup of tea? Okay, try this then…

Let’s get up to speed, shall we? It snowed forever. Then, it rained forever. Then, the sun finally came out and dried everything up. So, I went to my favorite place for free dirt. As it turns out, they made a real killing over the winter months and there was a huge pile of brown gold just waiting for me (Dirt that is. Not the brown gold that the dog makes for you). On my first trip to load up some terra firma, I met my new best friend Cemetery Bob. He works the graveyard shift and just happens to be the head groundskeeper for Our Lady of Free Dirt Cemetery. He also has the keys to the bobcat (named after him, I’m sure) and the dumper. Did I mention we were best friends? We are now. So far about 15 yards of the Holy ground has already been moved to the site. Ask and ye shall receive. So far, it has all been used to fill in low areas that resulted from the fence expansion, new fire pit area (moved out of the new right of way), and pond filling projects.

The next load will actually be used in the railroad expansion. Hark… what sound is that?.. Why, it’s the sweet sound of a dump truck backing up into my driveway. Music to my ears. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep.

I never realized just how long the driveway is.

Gotta go!

-Kevin.

Sorry. Here ya go.

Holy crap, Kevin cut his hair!

I feel like that picture right now. I have been digging up the sewer line from my house to find and remove the clog. I found a split Terra cotta pipe that is full of roots. That guy in the picture looks un-enthused, and the pile of dirt is higher then he is. Yup, thats me right now.

Cant wait for the progress pictures. Hurry up because winter will be back before you know it. Plus you have to get it it done Nico gets his done.
