Rail boss vs Airwire

So, what did you decide?

For others that may want to see it …

I’m still thinking. Right now I’m right in the middle of finishing house getting it ready to put it on the market this spring. You’d be surprised how much stuff you collect in 64 years of life and all the little things “to do” to make a property really polished before putting on the market. All of the train stuff is packed up for the move. So between now and then, I’m still thinking, reading, researching, etc. Right now, I am leaning to either RailBoss or LocoLinc. Would love to see videos of each as the remote are being operated.

Just an update. 2 years latter and finally getting real close to getting house on the market. But I have continued to research the next move for control. I decided to go a direction I was not even considering before. Going with RailPro. Their controller just looks nice. So I’m gonna order the controller and 1 module and see how it goes. If it works out, I’ll convert the rest. Now their steam sounds are really lacking, but there is a way to hook up the Phoenix. So I’ll try it and see.

Color me curious. What do you find lacking in the steam sound? Are you trying to duplicate a specific locomotive? I guess I’m just Mr. Generic here…but I DO like the bell and whistle choices…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Basically there are only 3 sounds. Yes a Shay, but no Heisler, Climax, 2-6-6-2, etc., only generic. Coupler clank is not automated so only if you press the button, coal load automated, station announcements, etc. I like to have the different sounds for different engines, some interesting things automate, etc. I’m not a connoisseur of sounds or trains, but the sounds I enjoy And the Phoenix just does it better. I understand they are big into diesel so better library but not so much for steam.

Yes Phoenix has quite the library for steam!
