Thanks Diesel Dude, Really like the plan and the execution of said plan. Did one milk crate equal the whole bridge, or did it take more crates?
Pete-
Thanks again.
I used two crates. The bridge is five feet long and double tracked. Each side of the milk crate yielded a one foot length of material for the bridge bottom.
The bottom of the milk crate also has a similar “girder” pattern, but the dimensions and design did not match the side pattern. So, I needed a second crate.
If you are building a shorter span or if you are doing a single track bridge, you could get away with less material- perhaps only one crate.
The material that I used for the simulated girders above the entrance and exit of the bridge came from a different type of plastic crate (not a milk crate). Unfortunately, I do not have a picture of that crate.
Let me know if you need anything else.

Kevin , just curious, what is the clearances you decided on and the overall height of the bridge. Laying out for mine and I really like your porportions. I am going with 10" actual clearance to allow for double stack intermodals, and guessing about 13 " overall height from deck of bridge to top of the center section
