Ponderosa needles after a good wind storm

Although your needles appear longer and softer then our Ponderosas. I’m guessing yours get more water then ours based on the other landscaping you have.

Semi arid doesn’t differ much around the globe, the Okanagan Valley needs irrigation from the US border to just 30km North of us to have things green and grow.

Artificial borders don’t mean much to Mama Nature. Its pretty much like that east of the Cascade Mts. all the way south into California.

How does one know that Ponderosa needles in a pond are a pain? when SWMBO comments on how that “Krokodil” almost disappears.

Just clean out the mess; three minutes with my bare hands and then it was time for the metal leaf rake. Made for a heavy bag but “the stuff” is gone

There is progress, slow but steady. Goes like this: clear the needles, weed the cleared patch, place the crusher … repeat … repeat … repeat.

And in between I’m installing the required wire for the envisioned operations. Never a dull moment.

And then … well then we get another load of wind from the WSW, the perfect direction to dump the needles on the layout.

But it isn’t as serious looking, the crusher is almost the same colour as the needles.

Got some more speaker wire to hook up the turnout motors, it has been a very productive week; videos, garden railway, drawings … moving right along.

The only regret, we didn’t meet the bear this week.

There was enough wind last night to topple two umbrellas, rearrange a few things in the garden and … dump plenty more of my favourite needles.

Friday I considered raking the stuff, but SWMBO said: “Don’t waste your time, there will be more!”

But you cant play trains with the track like that.

Too late for that in any case, still need to string more wire and other electrical stuff. But while the weather is still reasonable I need to get the water features ready for Winter. There’s snow on the mountain, just a question of “when” and the snow flies.

Hans, I am not really ready to start hearing THAT 4 letter word. Not just yet.
