Pepper's Ice Co. delivery wagon

I don’t know the gems are dirt cheap and best thing is you don’t have to drill any holes, words spoken by a lazy man

I have used both with great success. I used the gems on my (now) shelf queen 2-6-0 tender

I wouldn’t argue either one. Both do the job. Yes drilling is a pain. Can’t argue that. The gems to my eye, even the smallest ones I could find seem a little big. But each to their own. I don;t think a person would go wrong either way.

The wagon looks great! As does your undercarriage, which is always a mystery to me. Are the plans you refer to available to the public somewhere?

Very cool to see you using your Circut like that. I got one for Christmas a year ago, and I’m sorta in trouble for not having figured out how to use it yet. But .015 styrene sounds perfect; it’s edges would melt badly in the laser, but the Cricut would cut nice and clean, it looks like.

Cliff I found the plans here there is another set for a grain wagon also.

Now the cricut won’t cut through the styrene. It scores it so you have to snap them out. But it does it tright nice.

Painting is mostly done except for the bars. I have a little rigging yet to do on those. I also have to make the seat and apply the decal. Then comes the task of trying to make harness for the horse.

“Then comes the task of trying to make harness for the horse.”

you could give a try to cut stripes out of an (empty) plastic tothpaste tube.

i found, that its tendency to sag and bend a little makes it a good material to fake scale leather.

Devon;

There is a product sold at craft stores called “lacing” or “gimp.” I used some tan lacing for the harness and reins for Trish, my work triceratops. I also used small diameter brass rod stock for the bridle, bit, and other harness hardware.

(I got the photo to the Freight Shed, but I don’t know how to post it.) Anyway, I hope the text helps. David Meashey

Got the decal on. I am using a new to me product. I used to make all my own decals on water slide paper using inkjet printers. But apparently the cheaper ones at least these days use an “ink” that is transparent. The last sets I made on a clear paper looked like crap. The laser paper and toner isn’t supposed to me transparent. Well if the black is any indication they work great. I do wish I had made it a little larger but I will live with it.

David,

Video Embedding

This topic has to be re-mastered every time the site owner makes an upgrade to the software. For this incarnation the procedure is…

  1. Grab the embed code from the YouTube video (directly on the video) right click in OPERA (copy embed code); right click in FireFox (Copy embed code); right click in Chrome (get embed code);right click in IE (get embed code).

  2. In the reply window click on “insert/edit video” button in the top row (looks like a movie frame), and select “Embed”.

  3. Paste the embed code (copied from YouTube) in the box and click “OK”.

That’s what we all found works now. Some day down the road we will have to find a new way for new software, but for now this works. Have fun!

Photo inserting

  1. Start by uploading your photos to a server. You have storage space in the Freight Shed on this web site.
  2. After they are uploaded, click on the file you want to open.
  3. Once it is opened, RIGHT click on the picture and select copy image location. DO NOT use the url in the address bar of your browser.
  4. Next click on the insert photo button in your post and paste the image location in the source line.
  5. Look at the dimensions. You will see them if you click on the first box (height). Make it 800 then click on the second box and it will automatically be correctly scaled.
  6. Then hit OK and your photo will be in your post.

That’s a fine ice delivery vehicle, Devon. Now get the hoss all lashed up and she’ll be ready to start making deliveries. The colors just scream “refreshing”

Joe;

Thanks, printed your instructions via Notepad so I can refer to them later. I will eventually get the gist of it.

Best, David Meashey

Dan;

Flip Wilson had a monolog about an ice man. The ice man went to deliver a block of ice to a third floor apartment. His horse turned to a passerby and said,“Boy, this is a terrible job. He works me on this wagon six days a week, then on Sundays he takes me to the park and makes me give pony rids to the kids!” The stunned passerby asks, “Does he know you can talk?” “Heck no!,” says the horse. “If he did, he’d make me yell ‘ICE!’”

An oldie, but still funny.

Best, David Meashey

It just wasn’t sitting right with me. I need it a little grander. So I redid it. much happier

You were right, looks great like that…

That looks much better. Devon, if the ice business ever melts away (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)you can turn it into a paddy wagon or a hearse.

Your decals came out great. What product did you say you were using?

Laser waterslide paper from Amazon. Of course printed on a laser printer. Can’t wait to do color decals to see if they look as good but I assume they will. Of course you have to have access to a color laser printer.

Second set of decals much,much better. Fit the era your depicting.

Great job on the whole project.

That turned out great, Devon!

yes, the second pepper has more pepp to it!
