Well, I now have a value system for each cement pour, it equals one hour of nap. At first I was using the trowel to spread it out, but the mesh is more holiday than solid and pressure pushed it through. Now my mix is wetter and with an old stainless steel serving spoon I slop it on in a thinner layer. A pour is 4 scoops and 1 1/2 units water. Aprox. 2 sq. feet.
Once the base coat is complete, I can sculpt the terrain and final texture…
I’ve been taking it easy … mesh one day, cement a couple three times the next, then power napping the next.
I’ve been adding tints without planning, does it show?
The yellow is tailings from a mine and the black glass will be from the assay smelter.
Sharp eyes will notice the quarry, it’s shape will be sculpted.
In 2012 I beat lung cancer, in January I scheduled my yearly Scan and ‘precancerous tissue’ was revealed. The Cancer Board ordered it’s destruction, in April, via a Cobalt coagulator … cut and cauterized methinks. After 6 months of wheezing, I scheduled a follow up and my doc ordered the scan that found the cancer … but he forgot to call me … 10 days later I go in to find out the results and we get a phone call 5 minutes after we leave … oh we found a lump, 3 days later I get a call from my oncologist’s scheduler and she has me scheduled of 6am the 19th for a Brain MRI and a PET scan. The next day I meet with my doctor and hear my battle plan

Now on to trains. That “lumpy hill” is looking good. Will be a nice scene break between tracks, helping to isolate them. I like the quarry. Lots of opportunity to build machinery as time and energy permit.

It’s better that all y’all (plural) are far oft, I’m not a pretty picture on chemo. Lucky for me, the nice young man my sister hired 6 years ago is available to ferry me to and from my treatments. Frees me from trying to think, chemo-brain is a known condition.
My favorite chemo- memories: Couldn’t go to sleep one night because I didn’t have the Password to wake up with. and 2. If the oxygen hose falls out of my nose, will I die? 2 sleepless nights that I knew were insane, yet … couldn’t close an eye … Asleep how would I enter the PW? Lumpy yes mucho potential, only thing holding me back is me. The next hill will be taller and if … I see a crater to expose my Saguaro and dino egg and then swooping down to be the base for the ballasted deck bridge, now the flying fill. I think it was Cliff that suggested using some of my rocks, was going to anyway… a chimney is going in on the west end of the Lumpster. I am pleased with the method. A few odd sticks for support until the cement cures and move on. Kinda matches my speed.
To cold and wet today, so image engineering…
The smelter will be compressed and the hill a tad steeper, methinks.
Edit: I’ve been all through this mine, where I could stay on the ground, my buddy tried the ladders. I did crawl under straining beams holding back overburden. Oh my, I was careful not to touch!

Walk in? Like 1:1 scale?
Out at the mine I never saw tailings around the mill/smelter foundation. Today I read that litigation … claim jumpers kept them in court for 4 years until the market tanked!
They did make $500,000 in silver the first year

I had the Brain MRI and then 2 hours later they gave me a PET/CT scan
No rest for the innocent… I get home to get a phone call from my Oncologist’s office to tell me they’ve scheduled me for a visit with a Neurologist, something about an old aneurysm … Day after Christmas, party is over…
“Mr. Caughey, we don’t think you’ve shown enough anxiety, so here…”
That worked!
Tomorrow I see my doctor and I get my tentative treatment schedule.

The aneurysm was seen in 2012 and hasn’t changed, was a better safe than sorry shout out or an over eager radiologist. I’ll still see that doc, but no worry there. Just be aware and monitor it.
The BEST news; all I have to do is survive surgery, the surgeon says a 98% chance because it’s a cancer that can be excised and he will remove the upper right lobe with the lump and which suffered radiation burn and the middle right lobe which collapsed. (Collapsed can be a breeding ground for pneumonia).
I’ve been hearing my favorite c word … cure!
The bad part … surgery is Jan 9th and recovery, if I’m lucky, will be at my sister’s home, if not then in a recovery facility. Sorry Dave.
