Our Devon Sinsley needs your prayers.

Great news Devon. Now instead of being blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other, well, you just can’t see out of the other. Glad to see you are steadily getting better.

Great news, Devon.

Let that be a lesson to all of you not to get a “Swelled Head”.

Do I need to explain that it means to be prideful or vain? No? OK, I won’t.

Congrats on the great progress!

The continuing saga. Well I don’t have very good news. I have been having minor headaches off and on for the last month or so. No big deal, if thats as bad as they ever got I could deal with it. Couple Tylenol and some whiskey and I am better. Well they were gradually getting worse. On Friday all of my pre-op symptoms returned. At first mild now today full blown. I went to the Neurosurgeon (an no not just because she is cute) and she did some xrays to check the shunt. It looks good from my brain to my belly. No kinks or breaks. That leaves valve or brain cath. She lowered the pressure setting of the valve from 1.5 to 1. this will relieve the pressure sooner. Need to give that a month. But that is not what she thinks is wrong. With my particular condition she explained that it is like draining a muddy swamp (or in my case a **** filled outhouse) as opposed to a lake like a hydrocephalus patient who has big sacks of fluid. My ventricles are little slits. Anyways what she thinks is wrong is that the brain has swelled around the holes in the shunt plugging it off. If in a month I am not better she will cut my scalp open and expose the valve, disconnect the tubing, and test everything. If the shunt in my brain is working and not clogged it will squirt fluid everywhere. To test and see if the shunt going to my abdomen is working they will hook a column of fluid up and let gravity drain it and it should drain quickly. If both of those work then she replaces the valve. If it is the belly shunt then they try and fix it. If it is the brain shunt then I get a new one. Most likely I will be in for some sort of brain surgery in a month if the valve setting doesn’t work.

Dr Rooster thinks you need to drink more whiskey and have them install a shunt in your balls. That way when they retest, you can tell the nurses that shunt is in pain and needs frequent inspection.

Good luck Bro (in my prayers)

Dibs on assisting the cutter!

Oh man, I was so hoping they had your big head under control. This is no fun.

I’m still waiting to see if they are going back inside me.

Let’s pray for each other.

Man, Devon, I hate to hear that. I’m praying with you that it will be a simple fix and you will be back on your feet soon.

RevDev,

I am sorry to hear of your ongoing misery! You are in my thoughts constantly.(https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-innocent.gif)

Damn! You are in my thoughts!

Lol I have to laugh. When I saw the X-RAY the terminal end of my shunt ends in my “belly”. But it actually ends just above my balls. It is clearly at a level in line with my hip sockets. Well the tech was showing me all the pictures before I left. We were both mutually fascinated by it. It was his first shunt series. Well as we were looking at the aforementioned terminal end he looks at me and says “why didn’t they just hook up to your dick and then you could piss it out”. Well I just about list it. He said it so dead pan serious.

I don’t blame you and if I thought for a second they would let you i would hook you up. I wish so bad that they had the first one on video. She said since it isn’t a teaching hospital they don’t record any of it. I would love to have watched them place the shunt in my brain.

Deal

So sorry to hear this! I hope it’s all still under warranty …

Devon, when i read your thread in the challenge, i thought, “there he just escaped becoming a vegetable, and here he’s pushing himself too hard again!”

to me it looks, like you are pushing your brain into overdrive permanently.

what about the old saying: “easy does it”?

Hey buddy - Take care of yourself. We need you sticking around to keep us nut jobs in check. Hope things work out for you.

Unfortunately no. Not when they tell you upfront it will happen in a matter of time that could be one month or 10+ years.

I wish A) i could do that, not even possible, my wife says the same thing but I wouldn’t even begin to know how to take it easy on my brain. It is always in overdrive and I can’t make it stop. To many sleepless night laying in bed “thinking” and B) thats not the issue, I asked, about pushing myself and she said to resume normal life as soon as possible. Maybe its just not normal for me to be normal. I don’t know Korm if you knew my life I have slowed way down. I am not doing (thinking tyoe stuff) a lot of what I was pre surgery. A lot of stuff I wish and think I should be doing but can’t. I no longer am serving at any of my volunteer positions. I am only about half active in my train club. I have all but reduced myself to a being a shut in. I was starting to get out post surgery but I am afraid I am back there. its a balance between physical and mental health. I am depressed from being shut in. I don’t know.

Devon

Hey if Steve gets to do cutting I want a turn. You know the saying, “friends don’t let friends drive drunk but they do let them perform brain surgery on them”. Most people are not familiar with that second part so I just thought I would remind you. Besides I have credentials:

Played 72 rounds of golf (40 over par!!! How is that for a score)

Successfully completed the Operation board game

Stayed at a Holiday Inn Express.

Let me know when you need me to scrub up.

Don’t forget we have plans to Attend the 2019 NGRC in Portland and you are not getting out of it. I will go all “Large Scale Driving Mrs Daisy” on you if necessary.!
