Anyone know whats up today? I cant even open the site today, its completely gone, can not even access my photo storage, thats usually not the case even when service is being done, I dont know if there was any scheduled outage or upgrade, dang I was going to upload more layout pics.
Ralph I have over 61MB stored linked to dozens of topics across 5 sites. The thought of reloading that many pics not to mention losing the pics in all those topics and having to add new pics or restarting those topics anew is too frightening to consider.
I could not get on all day as well.
If anyone had bothered to read the warning on the home page, you would have seen that Shad posted the site would be down for maintenance from 6:00am to 6:00 pm, possibly longer. The hosting service was having new power routed into the facility today (if my memory is correct). Shad apologized for the inconvenience ahead of time.

The warning I read was for Sunday. But could be I missed an update…or it’s Sunday and I missed a day somewhere
Ralph
The date in the warning was for February 25, which I believe is today. Not to mention, I wouldn’t want to pay the electricians for working on Sunday, especially those in the power company.
Edit:
By the way the site is back up and still has the outage warning for Feb 25 on the home page.

Yeah, I noticed when I went to look. And pages here load at normal speed, I guess I should use a browser that gives me less info then I would be none the wiser, eh!?!

Now that is what I call really annoying! GRRRRRRRRR
You’re more or less harmless.
I saw the warning …after it was up and running again
Now got to up load my pics and update my threads.

I’ll second that!
Victor , why don’t you download your pictures to disc? It’s not as though blank CD’s are expensive , and you will have a permanent copy .
I have over 8000 photos on disc ; properly indexed they are very accessible .
In answer to your next question , 86 .
I do have everything stored on the home computer and all that can get backed up onto a thumbdrive, storage isnt the issue, its hostling pics for the web where it gets sticky.
All the pics I have hosted on MLS are all linked to posts on the different forum site. One does not arbitraraly decide to move such without effectively damaging all the past postings by removing the photos from them. Almost all are too old to re-edit with new links and even if possible that job would be a mighty task. I began hosting on MLS back in '04 when I became much more active online, I chose MLS because they had a great deal during one of the rusty boat shows. I’ve never had any real reason to consider switching. I have considered a dedicated website for my pizza layout but I havent been able to get myself to do the investment (time and money, but mostly time) in creating a dedicated website. I’m just not that much of a computer junkie I guess.
Aha ! My mistake . Yes , I see now that I have re-read your post , I misunderstood .
As for trusting valuable photos to a computer , I hesitate to go along with it .
When you consider that my library of WPYR alone cost over $4000 (airfare and hotels)
it is safer to have them set in concrete . Difficult to play , but safe .
Mike I usually back everything onto a thumbdrive but even I agree a CD is a great low tech backup, nothing for an EMP to fry. Given all the solar storm stuff and the random goofiness of my home computer time to backup the backup.
Quite so , quite so .
