I used Trex Steve but I used pvc pipe for the uprights that were pounded into the ground. Then the ladder screwed to the pipes.
I used a “T” post driver until it would start to touch the ladder then I used a hammer and a block of wood. All but 2 of these posts (pipes) are at least 3 feet into the ground. I haven’t noticed any heaving from last winter and they haven’t dropped any that I can tell. This picture was from this spring and I haven’t done any re-leveling at all.
I couldnt pound PVC into the ground around here…hell, I have a hard time putting steel posts into the ground. 6" under the topsoil, my whole yard, the whole area, is covered with 6-10 feet of glacial till. Every post and fence and whatsit has to go into a dug hole.
