Nicholas: Sorry for your loss. I do think it a good idea to let kids catch the wonder, if not the actual rolling stock!
Question: Is the drive still functional? Does it still run OK?
If so than time to man up or should I say “tool up” and dissassemble this puppy and repair that brass body work. Think of it as a learning opportunity. I mean you’ve already invested a substantial sum buying it. If you got your car dented up in a crash do you leave it damaged or get it repaired? You may not get it 100% but then again you might get it cosmeticly repaired to where no one will notice unless they really look for it. Beats writing it off without trying.
If they made body hammers and blocks in little tiny sizes, it would be relatively easy to straighten it out.
Well, maybe.
I’ve been where you are now - just take the advice of one who has done it - when straightening or otherwise restoring the shape of the plate-work
do
everything
V E R Y
slowly
and
deliberately.
You will often need to use a lot of manual strength applied very slowly and carefully - use clamps and shaped pices of wood to help you.

Nicholas–
If you choose to straighten and metal finish, please let us know the process you used.
Thanks,
Good luck.
How did it get so badly damaged? Was it dropped or did they give it a kicking ?
Locomotive fell off table onto the floor after it was DERAILED on purpose, I didnt want to get into taking it apart as I have a couple of
spares so I Ebayed it so I didnt have to look at it.
So now at the shows there is a few new signs for the Parents that read, Your Kid breaks it YOU pay for it.
That’s a strange injury. How’d it get bent that way? Must have taken some heat. Call Aristo, I’d bet they can find you some parts. They got me a whole bottom for Madam Mallet after the car wreck. Oh, that’s NOT an aristo plastic loco.
