Old Mother Hubbard, built from my cupboard

Hey Mik, I checked the tracking and it says it's in Iowa! What are they using to move mail these days, mules? I could have walked to Iowa in less time! I'll pm you the number. I live in a small town but 2 days to go from Minnesota to Iowa? Sheesh.
You know you have too much track when your Express Mail daily gets lost somewhere in Iowa... ;)

Jason, You buy the parts, I’ll build it. I think I’d want to use a smaller drive than a Bug Mauler or LGB Mogul tho… Unless you have 20 foot curves it’d look silly

Nah, it only got derailed!

Well, this is how it looks this afternoon.

I need to scrounge a pair of 3/4" tall gold numbers (#9). I’m also considering painting the face of the plow Burnt Sienna just to give it a little more color. Meanwhile, I managed to misplace the cab roof. It’s here… someplace. We were cleaning up, and it got put somewhere so I wouldn’t lose it :stuck_out_tongue: If disorganization is a sign of genius, I should be a Mensa candidate.

A tiny bit of progress to show. I found the roof, put a coupler on the plow, mounted the Headlight, hard wired the loco (and ran out of solder!), installed the bell and the classification light brackets.

That really looks good.

Is there a way to do the power pickups on the engine?

I have a mogul with very little use because my fingers and stroke residuals don’t get alomg with LGB plugs. The mogul was converted to battery and I would like to switch it back to track power and put it back on the road,

If they didn’t yank and scrap all the wheel pickups and buss bars (you’ll have to pull the bottom plate to check), the easiest thing is probably to pull the boiler and solder the pin pairs on each side together (there should be two pairs of metal pins sticking up on the firebox end of the motor housing - if there isn’t then it gets a bit more involved) If you need a new set of skates, i think I may have them someplace.

If you need walked through it, you’ll need to take some pix to show what you find. It’ll make it easier to 'splain how to proceed

That would be great! When I had so much trouble with it I even bought a new motor block but I’ll bet the old one is fine so it has TWO motor blocks!

That will be a project I can start on after the open house which is Saturday.
