Well, I was also the one who restored them to health after various port visits, so they were of a mind to be tolerant. :D

Also, that maneuver prevented the fouling of the ship’s screws by a drifting fishing net that the lookouts missed or didn’t report. Being dead in the water with your screws wrapped up in fishing net is embarrassing for most warships.
