I only do it when the humidity is very low. At other times I have a dehumidifier running. The fan is a good idea. I’d need to find a place to put it though.
Now, on the subject of rat size. When the commuter tunnel was being built in Philadelphia, in the late seventies, early eighties, rats were being disturbed from their homes. One day I was walking to the old Reading Terminal to catch a train home after work and I spotted what I thought was a small dog or large cat slinking under some building material on the site. I was quick enough to realize that it was indeed a rat, as I saw it’s tail sticking out from it’s hiding place.
We had some rather large rats in Vietnam. In the fields we would see them at night. Again, sometimes mistaking them for larger animals.
BTW, the tour went well yesterday. I’d been airing the shed out for three days, still stinks inside but with the doors closed it wasn’t noticeable from the outside.
We only had about 10 people show up, probably due to it being a workday rather than the weekend. But we met some nice folks and had a good time.
Did have a minor disaster… the Tin Lizard railbus stalled inside a curved tunnel and I wasn’t paying attention. The train rear-ended it, shoved it off the track and against the side of the tunnel. The loco derailed, the railbus was turned backwards and jammed under the cab of the loco. Despite the apparent carnage, the only damage was a few very small scuffs, and the “cowcatcher” popped off the rail bus.
Ray,
I hate when that happens!
It never seems to fail. That Murphy guy always shows up when you are trying to show off.
