Just shot him some questions, I’ll post on any answers. His buildings look like he may be using cypress, which would be fine (if it’s the species they sell in FL). He’s in GA. We’ll see.

They say that they’ll continue to cut & process orders till stock runs out, which may take a year.

As of 9/1/2016, we have decided to retire once existing raw material is gone. This may take over a year.

We are past the 1 year point now…

Oh crud!!! I just got around to checking this section of the forum and saw the bad news about NWPL. I’ve used them for all my scale lumber projects – trestles, ore bins and head frames. I don’t know of any other source for large scale, western red cedar.

I just purchased a good bit of lumber from Northeastern. Some sizes are hard for me to produce with the table saw I have. They have been a good source to rely on for scale lumber.

If you are looking for 1:20.3 scale lumber I have a lot of Mt Albert scale lumber which I can sell at 30% off retail.

Very true.

My outdoor structures are cedar and redwood.

I use basswood for rolling stock builds.

I did basswood shingles on my Feed and Grain building. That building is actually on my porch, so it doesn’t get as wet as a building in my yard would. Nor does it get more than an hour or 2 of direct sun per day. Within the first year I was scraping off the split, cracked and warped shingles.

Yes, they were coated with something to protect them. It was so long ago, I forget what coating was used.
