New rumor , Maerklin for Sale

Oh No.

I was under the impression LGB stood for Lehmann Gross Bahn.

“Stood” is correct. But LGB® no longer STANDS for Lehmann. Although Märklin owns all of the old marks, I can’t find any evidence that they have used “Lehmann” in any form regarding the product they are selling. Including the removal of “Lehmann” from all tooling. JJ is correct!

How interesting! Good thing someone posted pictures regarding the sub-par R3 turnouts complete with the markings shown in the ties of same.

There goes another one of the “myths” generated by The Ventilator!

As far as I'm concerned the day the Factory closed was the end of Ernst Paul Lehmann Patentwerk. I hope the sale rumors are true and someone who actually cares about the hobby and the product will buy the name and tooling.
Wellllll Marvin, there was no mention of EPL Patentwerk oHG; mention was made of Lehmann as in LGB (Lehmann Gross Bahn).

As for “Sale”, you could always resurrect that old scheme and ask if anyone would be interested investing real money and buy out the LGB® stake at the going rate when it comes on the market. Best check the piggy bank and the funds under the mattress to get an approximate benchmark on how many need to come in on the action.

Couldn’t be as difficult as before since there’s only Kingsbridge to convince that you actually have the funds. The only snag that I would anticipate: it all goes in one package … Märklin, Trix and LGB®. With about 1000 employees in Europe; “saving” 70 jobs would be a non-starter.

Okay-
Poorly assembled straight track
upside down RhB logos on frieght cars
screws missing from V200 engine blocks
Inability to properly solder the contacts on switches…

Hope they sell soon before they totally destroy the reputations of all of thier product lines!
HJ- perhaps you can translate “Zincpest” for everyone?

JJ you talk a load of codswallop.
The LGB brand is still clearly being used and made by LEHMANN.

My return rate these days on new purchases of electronics is probably close to 50%. Everything from telephones to computer parts have high defect rates.
They sell us a bunch of disposable crap…knowing full well most of the defective products will never be returned.

Marklin’s quality problems seem to be pretty minor considering they are restarting production.
As for destroying their reputation…this seems to be your agenda.

Tony the conclusive proof can be found in this thread with all the required detail. Should be clear as day unless one wears very dark red tint "Made by Richters" glasses!

HJ,
Methinks JJ, JB, Marvin et al, all indulge in a bit too much Mulligan Stropping for their own good.

Whilst such indulgences might be good for warding off Prostate Cancer they obviously haven’t done much for their brain development.

Marvin/JJ/Bob Suggins/Lone Railroader etc. etc. etc.

How about this supposition: would sucking on a lemon to close one’s anal orfice improve one’s vision if the optical nerve is connected to said orfice? Would you give that a try?

Ralph,

Märklin (kingsbridge) destroyed the company whose products I preferred. I wouldn’t buy a thing from them and if I want to post it on a public forum that’s my right.

JJ.
Now that is about the most flagrant load of bulls**t I have ever read. Even from you…
LGB was destroyed before Marklin bought it by two useless twits who obviously didn’t know what they were doing.

Now we know for sure excess Mulligan Stropping eats ones brain.

Thank you Tony,

One more expression in the arsenal!

Yep, they should have listened to their mothers, could have saved their eyesight, too. It’s a bitch when you have to wear the dark red glasses in order not be blinded by the daylight.

I fully agree with at least the latter part of your above. Everyone is entitled to project his/her depth of wisdom on the Internet, if you enjoy reductio ad absurdum of yourself, we won’t argue! You’re doing an outstanding job!

I really enjoyed the “denial”.

“We are in great shape” “Orders are up” "Just one small problem, Legally we can’t fire anymore workers till the end of 2009. So we’re asking for 5,000,000€ ($7,757,000) in “wage givebacks”. “That’s only 20% of our total wages or an average of 5000€ from each of you 1000 workers.” “Kingsbridge needs the capital.”

Jack,

All of that pales in comparison to your “ventilations” and ignorant statements. You really should do a bit more research on how things shake out in the LGB® world.

Plenty more expressions where that one came from.

…and maybe http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barry_Humphries

Review quotes like

“Cripes! Those poor Poms are up sh*t creek in a barbed wire canoe without paddles!”

mean it’s now on “the List”.

I find that when folks run out of valid arguments it is much easier for them to resort to name calling.

Would the situation be clearer if I said I had been contacted by a company not on the above list to consider on working on a new magazine about LGB. (also not LGBoA or Silvergate) Mmm, wonder why a company would be working on this kind of preplanning for a product line that is “not for sale”!

Please add cute, obscure fish comments here:

No, I don’t wonder about that, I wonder why they would contact you. Unless they want to publish “Barton’s Fairy Tales” including

"A long, long time ago, in a land far away there was a toy manufacturer … "

That has possibilities! Since it would be a Fairy Tale, checking facts would be a minor consideration, left for those times when the Muse is out to lunch.

I guess you'll just have to sit on the Pooper till you work that one out for your self. Sorry no fair using a micrometer caliper for an assist.

But I did; looks like your vision was impaired, again!

PS on that micrometer bit: Nowadays I get a better appreciation for your line of work, soggy top soil must be close to the consistency of the “stuff” that you shovel.
