New Forney

If someone that has one of the Forneys could post some pictures of it with various cars so we can see the size comparison that would be really appreciated...:) I had been thinking of getting one to run with the LGB closed vestibule cars I recently purchased.

Thanks, Timmy. While it does look too big for a Forney in 1:22.5 it doesn’t look over powering like the Bachmann Connie would look. I’m looking at this locomotive as mostly a “train show” locomotive to run on my portable layout. Most that saw it would never know the difference. Currently I’ve been using an LGB 2055 (White Pass DL535 dismal). It runs fine on the R1 curves on the layout but it just overpowers everything in it’s size. I’ve wanted to find a couple small locomotives to use that were built well enough that they would run for hours at a time without me worrying about them falling apart.

Hi,

Those LGB waggons with the Forney are about 1 : 24/25 scale.
A small Bachmann Sidetanks Porter looks OK with them.

Have Fun

I just purchased a new one recently, the SR&RL green and tan #22. I will be repainting it black unless someone want to swap with me, and I am toying with the idea of modifying it to operate on O gauge track to better model the 2 footers which is my passion. I measured it compared to some drawings of the real #22 Forney, and it is pretty much accurate on my 1:20.3 scale ruler from CTT. I am also ( Gasp) toying with the idea of replacing the boiler with a smaller one with fluted domes and shortening the wheelbase to make a good Portland Forney model. This thing is new in the box, and I got it for a great price compared to online discounts, so I am not opposed to hacking it up.
