Yes Ralph, it is and I guess many run it with standard gauge - sometimes in error, others with nonchalance.
None on this standard gauge railroad.

I’ve got an LGB #50 that is my best runner, a few Macks as well, but think I’d like a complimenting diesel for the line…either ‘real’ or ‘fantasy’
and should have mentioned I’m not above an “Americanized” (UK, etc outline) diesel that could pass the 10ft test
When I rode on the Georgetown Loop, I saw that they had a couple narrow gauge diesels parked up at the top. Really cute looking little things that sort of resembled RS models.
They were not the narrow gauge diesels shown on the current web site that arrived in 2005 and 2010 because I saw them in the late 90s.
These are what I believe I saw. I remember they were painted the same and very bright. But if you look at pics of the “loop” you can see some other narrow gauge diesels.
Thanks Steve, so you must just put in the YouTube page URL rather than the actual embed code. I’ve done it before but all the nitty gritty eludes me at times.
You may want to go the other way too and scale down. The Bachmann 1:20.3 GE 45 ton center cab is a huge looking beast even in a 1:20.3 logging setting. It was a standard gauge prototype on narrow gauge trucks. I have 2 stashed but not yet under the knife! The modified examples are inspiring.

Nothing available yet in these scales, and likely not for a very long time if ever…but there were two Army narrow gauge diesels tested on the D&RGW narrow gauge lines.

3000
Some brief info can be found here:
At one point I had 4 Bachmann 45er’s every color scheme avail…(still have 3 complete blocks though)
after looking at these examples above (MANY Thanks for all the links and photos) I’m thinking I may want something more diminutive…closer to the LGB #50 I have on hand…and less like the LGB WP&Y Behemoth.
I’m not at the point in life (5 kids-eldest is only 10…baby is 2) that I can devote much time to a scratch-build, maybe a little kit-bashing though.
thanks again! Off to rummage through the LGB offerings (I guess)
ETA: The upcoming layout will have some “little” switches which I realized will further the need for a little loco…The Bachmann Davenport is nice, and a consideration…looking for further…
Cale, Do you still have the Toby plans?

Yes, I don’t know what I was thinking off! My favorite, the East Broad Top has M-7, a GE 50-ton center cab, plus M-4 and M-6, a pair of little Plymouth 0-4-0s.

Accucraft produced a very finely detailed and excellent running center cab, based on a Hawaiian prototype. Correct scale for 3 foot. In correct colors too.

There’s a series of books from Railhead Publications called “Critters.” There are 4 volumes, and they feature manufacturer ads and specs for a variety of industrial diesels. Most of these are 2-axle types in a variety of flavors.
If you can find an older LGB 2090 diesel, that might be a good place to start. I did a very simple conversion of one when I was a teenager that has since been de-motored and is now used by my son to push around the railroad.
I’ll be working on upscaling a 1:29 NW-2 to 1:22 for my dad’s railroad this spring. (I’m waiting for the new G-wire receivers to show up before having everything shipped out to me.) I just finished installing a Revolution in a friend’s NW-2, and took the liberty while it was here to make notes of what I’d do to it–most of it along similar lines to what Ray did with his RS-3 conversion; larger cab, adding a bit of width to it, and new front/rear pilots.
Andrew already posted links to my “downsized” B’mann 45-tonner, but if you’ve got the trucks, that’s not a bad place to start, either. A simple boxcab a la Bruce Chandler (either his 4-axle or 2-axle job) wouldn’t take a ton of time to scratchbuild.

LGBs dismal was based on a real WP&Y engine.
You could always build your own, all you need is a bobber caboose shell and a drive brick:
That bobber-boxcab with counterweights and siderods? KILLER!!!
