All the #12 switches on the main are scratchbuilt. I had Doug Bronson laser cut the tie strips for me.

I used to use the fixture you see here to make the tie strips before I knew Doug.

I've got a few N-scale items on the wall, in the basement.... :)

Rodney,
I’m absolutely floored! that is one hell of a setup. I haven’t seen a yard that large in a very long time!
But there is a fly in that ointment … I think finishing the ceiling above the layout would have been a very good idea!

I can’t look at Rodney’s pictures anymore!
VERY COOL!
Rodney, I like the layout. I was an N scaler back in high school. I miss it because you can put so much in a small area.
Ron
Thanks for all the kind comments on the layout. I have dreamed of this layout since I became a serious model
railroader at about the age of 13 when Model Railroad Craftsman did a centerfold on John Allen’s Gorre and Daphetid
Railroad.

Ah yes the yard. The yard at Portola will be almost as big as this one. The plan is to have 2 operators at each
yard. In simulations I had as many as 12 operators running at once.
Rodney
Portola to Oroville along the Feather River Canyon…lots of dramatic scenery along that route.

I got to hand it to you on the work it taken to go that large no matter what scale it is.

We only have a coffee table N gage r.r. but we get to see it and not on a shelf. Great job there . Keep posting on it when you can…
