Large Scale Central

My health update.

Thank you Bruce for the excellent suggestion! I am getting older and this makes good logical sense to me. So I decided to sell my goats yesterday to a farmer across town that owns no Roosters and Rooster no longer owns any goats!

Do you get visitation rights ?

Are we heading into the “Don’t ask. Don’t tell” realm?

It really doesn’t matter as goats are known as inveterate liars. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Thinking of you … How’s things … (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)

Anybody here from Devon lately … Thinking of him …

Yes he checked in on the contest thread, he’s ok and doing another wood trade, like the mallet, at the same time.

He caught my wonder too.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

Devon is doing wood these days ? …times change I suppose.

Yep, he got in with a rough-cut bunch of fellers!

I’m here. I have been rather preoccupied with woodworking. Especially with Christmas time I am making all sorts of stuff. As for the whole health thing well, eh, I am just tired of complaining about it is all. I have to go to Seattle on the 13th for a spinal tap and depending on the results of that likely some sort of other testing. My shunt does not appear to be working yet again. It is like its intermittent. Some days I fee great others like I don’t have it at all. The valve on my head has a fluid reservoir. When you push on it, it should spring right back as it fills with fluid. Mine sometimes will stay depressed for up to five minutes other times it springs back pretty quickly. So there is some intermittent reason why it does not consistently fill and drain like it should. As such I have been feeling less than ideal. Sadly though I am kinda just getting used to it and accepting this as my new normal. I will update you all with what the doc says when I get back.

As for what John said, I will be involved in the MIK unless I am dead. But at the same time I will be involved in a project swap on Lumberjocks again. This time its a surprise swap, no theme, just make what you want. I will be making a candle powered hanging lantern out of Aromatic cedar.

But other than that I am just hangin out lurkin around. i have a lot going on and quit honestly trains have not been the highest priority. But I am finally getting my hobby room. We are playing room shuffle at my house and the kid stole the basement and I am talking his old room. It needed paint and what not. Its getting there.

It’s not just about trains…my friend … (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

Keep having fun with your puppy side kick!

Well good news at least for now. No surgery. He said I have slit ventricle syndrome. A side effect of a VP shunt especially in psuedo tumor patients. It happens when the fluid drains and collapses the ventricle. It plugs it off and then it inflates again. It’s why my symptoms are intermittent. So he lowered the valve setting so it will drain more fluid faster. It will mean the ventricle will likely stay collapsed but when it does fill again it will dump faster. It’s an experiment. The idea is that when I do have symptoms it should be less severe and not last as long.

They drew 30cc of fluid and I think that might have been a little to much as now I have a low pressure headache but I know that will be short lived.

Funny side story. So the guy doing the spinal tap hit a nerve and it felt like someone tazered my left nut or stuck it on an electric fence. That was not cool. I jumped while he was sticking a needle in my back. We both got a good laugh from that one.

What a laugh riot!

Wow you’re taking that one in stride.

I wish you continued success, there will be no excuses this January for either of us!

Sure hope this works, Devon!

Nut tasering … NOT COOL (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)Was the electric shock treatment the only way to adjust the valve? (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)I hope the relief is long lived, Devon.

I’m still rooting for you. You are in my thoughts daily. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Sorry to hear all your going through. Hope things get better for you quickly .

All all the possible adventures in life, the one you are having is probably not real high on the “Most popular adventures” list.

Glad you are still here and still doing.

Good to hear, Devon. We’ll keep praying for ya as this thing settles down.

Cliff

PS: You did check to make sure both of them were still there, right?
