I was just getting ready to ask for a pony too!
So besides trying to start a fight with the opening paragraph, what was to be discussed?
Of course MTH trains are good for G scale, basically any manufacturer making stuff is good for G scale.
Would anyone say it is bad for G?
Not me.

Well it seems that I can’t bring up my favorite train company here. What I consider to be the best value in trains period is causing a stir on another post. A poor poster asked a question and entered a harsh environment. So let’s use a separate post for this discussion shall we?
Something wrong with their product or is it that beloved Lionel lawsuit thing?
Can we be civil?
I have an MTH daylight and cars. I don’t object to the scale, as that’s what I want to run all the time. Yes, some of their passenger cars are simplified. But it IS 1:32. I like their sound and their smoke. The chatter doesn’t appeal to me, but I can turn it off.
Any new product in any scale on No 1 track is fine. We need all the products we can get.
For the record, I have engines and cars from lots of current and fallen flag manufacturers. I’ve had pretty good luck with them all.
I won’t argue with YOUR choices, but please, play nice.
How could they possibly be bad? This is a nonsense question. And I don’t even HAVE any MTH trains.

Tom, I was trying to redirect the opposition to the company releasing new product. I felt it needed a separate post. It was from posts like this:
“First court found in favour of The Genious…Lionel went into bankruptcy protection…second court found in favour of Lionel. Mikey planned all sorts of stuff with his court-ordered gain that wasn’t his to have…and then he was stuck. I’ve been in three rail for 62 years…followed all the shenanigans…one of the reasons there is zero MTH stuff on my 3-rail pike…and never will be. I have a good friend, local, who hates the electronics more than I do…BIG HiRail empire (featured in CTT 5 or 6 years ago), I wired it…state of the art 1940…he buys MTH stuff at swap meets, brings it to me with a Dallee DCRU, and I proceed to gut them. Any new MTH he orders through the LHS, he stipulated they gut it, Dallee revering unit…for free. They get to keep the garbage they take out. Yeah, I know. TOC”
and
" You want the truth or just continue blithely in your own understanding? Trash…it’s not. Facts…it is. The issue is not those disseminating the facts…it’s those with the blinders screwed on so tight their eyes bug out."
I didn’t feel that a poster asking a question about their product could get even a fair answer there. That type of bashing should not be discussed on a new product announcement.
I reiterate, you were are are trying to start a fight.
That person has his opinion… and if you want to take TOC’s experience on, well, you have a long row to hoe.
Your opinions and personal attacks on the “opposition” are just a vehement.
Why not get off the soap box and just talk about trains… you can wave the flag and make all the personal attacks you want on Raymond’s MTH forum.
If a product is good or bad, it will be determined by it’s actual “track record”. Let it stand (or fall) on it’s own merits.
Lastly, this is a forum, a public forum. It invites discussion and praise and criticism. Most people here want the truth, not kool aid.

Jeez, let that dog lie!!
The beauty of this hobby is everyone can have an opinion and we can all not agree on it. However, we don’t need to berate each other just because we don’t share the same opinion.
Joe likes MTH, good for him. He has formed that opinion based on his own experiences and they work for him. Let it go.
Others don’t think too kindly of MTH and that is based on their own experiences. That still isn’t a problem.
Let bygones be bygones and lets all concentrate on helping each other maintain and build our little pieces of heaven in our backyards.
We will if he will.
Well, I have all brands/scales. I recently came to MTH and am liking it so far. Electronics take some head scratching, but I can do what I want now with it. I don’t buy much, but did splurge on them lately. Not sure why the rants, I figure to each his own. Have fun with a hobby. It’s big enough for all of us to do what we want. Like mom said, ‘if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all’.
Jerry made a point earlier about the accepted appearance of the MTH Challenger and larger locos in 1:32. Considering that most of us have a mix of scales (LGB, USA, Aristo) in freight cars, doesn’t the large MTH locos in 1:32 work well visually pulling that mix of cars. I doubt the full-sized Aristo 1:29 box cars alone would be visually acceptable pulled by 1:32. A 1:29 Hudson on our layout would be a “close your eyes on the curves” visual experience that the MTH Hudson or even the 1:32 Challenger loco could likely handle – our layout has mostly 4’ radius (8’ diameter) curves.
Your opinion?

I wouldn’t run these full speed on 4’ rad curves! I know they would run (I had them at one time), but look awkward. The videos are on 11’ outside oval and 10’ inside Aristo’s.
A Hudson would be the better choice on those curves. I don’t have one. I do have their diesels that would look good on those curves as well. I regularly mix the scales. Most guys say they don’t. Passenger equipment makes a bigger difference. Hope that helps?
I have no problem with their electronics coming from DCC.
i was running my Aristo GP-40 and was noting what a smooth running locomotive it is… where is that pony?

Must be good. I’ve heard that from several sources now.
Nice video’s Joe, is that your indoor layout? I came across a video the other day of my old MTH Challenger that I owned several years ago. I’m pulling several freight cars from different manufacturers and it looks great. It’s on my old layout before I made some big changes. Wish I still had this one.

Yeap, that’s mine. It’ll be gone someday when the outside one is done.
I thought about selling mine for about two seconds when I saw everyone started wanting them. The grandkids would never allow it! Some people like them, would rather see the steamers running. That’s the only G gauge one’s I have.
Do you have a link to your old video?
No, the old video is on a CD and I don’t know how you would transfer it to U-tube. I’ll have to ask one of the guys in our Gezzer group if they can help me.

If you have a DVD or CD drive on your computer, all you have to do is copy it from the CD to your computer. Then upload it to YouTube.
