Tony, I need a motor block smaller than usa trains blocks. It will be for a small climax loco and need smaller motor block comparable in size to aristo block. dave
I used the small Hartland 2 axle blocks for my Climax and it has done fine , lots better than the Stomper mechs I first used!

Hey Dave, I only paid a little over $60 each for the AC motorblocks I purchased for my Class A Climax through Whole Sale Trains. I also have a new Hartland motorblock which is replacement for the one that was with the new loco I purchased from them last year that ran terrible. The new motor block doesn’t run any better.
Originally I was trying to purchase the NWSL Magic Carpet drivers but since they moved to Montana, they have none at this time and don’t know when they will
Tim,
I’d call Hartland, I’ve found them to be nice folk, I’m sure they would work with you. Weird that my two are fine, as is the little single axle one I got from them.
Yeah, Aristo started using hybrid bearings, they have some advantages, but electrical conduction is not one of them, that’s the reason for the little spring and ball bearing on the axle…
I think the Aristo quality of the parts is ok, it’s the new assembly techniques (in my opinion) that cause the problems, too bad…
Regards, Greg
Guys , thanks for all the input. Seems like chineese quality is an oximoron! Looks like either choice will need some repairs. R-T-R used to mean ready to run…now it means ready to repair!!! Dave
