More "Swishiness" in evidence

David we have been blaming the rooster for a long time.

OK, fixed the wacky half-yellow-background-only-in-IE bug.

Cool.
I noticed we now have the most recent posts in the forum index. Sweet

Could be a bit more narrow. It's too dominant.

Tightened it up a bit.

Bob,

Looks great, I like the cleanness and simple colors.

Two wish list items (if possible). 1. Possibly go back the the same number of ā€˜recent postsā€™ on the home page? 2. Duplicate the number of pages at the top of each page in the thread.

My tuppence.

Bob Cope

I see that some of the larger photos in posts are now cropped (with scroll bars). This changed since late afternoon. Geoff

Bob: You mean 10 ā€œrecentā€ posts like on the main page? And the arrows on the right? Righto.

Geoff: yea, I got a few complaints that things wernā€™t sizing correctly, so keeping the image size and adding scroll bars was the easiest way to clean it up.

Bob, So what is the preferred picture size? Geoff

Looking good Bob -

What we have witnessed here folks, is a guy who knows his code and can add / subtract things according to the feedback he gets. Not a wanna-be Sysop who dumps in a new canned code and tells folks they need to live with stuff they donā€™t like, and without stuff they want.

(reference to Bobā€™s Furniture is strictly coincidental. Those outside New England can ignore this comment)

Geoff: Size them however you want, and let the user decide how to view them. Not everybody is viewing at the same resolution.

I generally make my images 800 px wide, which is a good compromise between resolution and detail.

800 x 600 will display without the scroll bars.

Everything is looking sharp, Bob

Thanks Ralph. I think I caught everything everyone has told me, except one reported instance of the main page being wonky, with 1/3 whitespace? Anyone duplicate that?

It probably has to do with the photo from the gallery. I caught it once where there was a very narrow photo with tons of white on both sides.

Bob,

Using IE 8.0.6x here ā€¦ the only stuff Iā€™m noticing now that the yellow has gone (he wondered where the yellow went ā€¦ (Slap! Sorry!) ) that the first selections on the ā€œforums homeā€ page are ā€¦ narrower than the rest of the pageā€¦ as are the ones on the subheadings page (General Forums, Track and Trestles, Modelling, etc. )page. Iā€™m guessing theyā€™re all meant to be the size of the ones toward the bottom of the ā€œforums homeā€ page (which has the added benefit of making the recent posts column less overpowering.)

Also, Agree, put the page numbers at the top and bottom if you can.

Really liking the new lookā€¦ and really REALLY REALLY liking the adaptability, and your willingness to listen to what people are saying. Refreshing!

Yup. When I opened the website this morning and went to the Forums tab I got a recent posts box that was abotu 1/4 the width of the window I have open (not full screen), and as I scrolled down there below that "box" was the box for the regular topics that was jsut slightly larger than the recent topic box thus it was staggered below it. that's annoying. It should scale itself out or not even have a recent topics box.

Thanks for the improvements though. Some nice things going on here.

Chas

A couple of glitches.
I am getting the smaller pictures with scroll bars attached in IE.
They all work just fine in Firefox.

The Forum index only goes about 2/3rds the way across the screen.
Full size in Firefox.

Another oddity
The typeface is clearer in IE than it is in Firefox.

In this post in IE (sorry about that) http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=12738

The post is only about 1/3 the screen and all the photos are tall and anrrow requiring what I consider excessive scrolling to view them.
