HJ, maybe the Marklin employees could contract a well known dynamic duo known to be practicing as consultants these days. Their experience in dealing with past employees was well known in the final few months, as staff basically gave their souls to keep the company gates open (alas to no avail).
Certainly, if they're looking for "guaranteed results". ;) :)

HJ, quits, resigns or 'is shown the door'?
It was mentioned that he leaves by his own will, what ever that means.

think global Pius

It means that he leaves in the vertical position, rather than feet first!

Hans-Joerg,

IMHO, I thought Axel Dietz was the “cats meow” for Marklin from all the glowing reports about him… But it is corporate rules is it not, make the #'s or your gone… Must not be making the #'s!! Again IMHO…

Bob,

A friend of mine in Germany has suggested H-J Mueller as a replacement for Dietz. Maybe it’s time to “Draft Mueller”? I’m sure I could come up with an e-mail campaign.

I second that…

I believe that HJ is a “genuine” person, so the campaign should be “Draft Genuine Mueller”…

Sure guys, a perfectly charming idea.

Latest from the German papers: Märklin goes after the consultants!

http://www.handelsblatt.com/unternehmen/industrie/maerklin-legt-sich-mit-beratern-an;2022646

Demands a refund from Alix Partners in the seven figures range!

I guess the Richters aren’t alone when it comes to money problems, eh?

Mangledgermenglish:

13 evaluations noticing pressures sending 13.08.2008, 19:14 clock Württembergi model course manufacturer demands compensation Märklin puts on itself with advisors of Sönke Iwersen

The crisis with the model course manufacturer Märklin strikes far waves. Few days ago only head of the company Axel Dietz made his office available. Now also the management consultants are to be pulled for responsibility according to data by Firmeninsidern. They are to have accounted for worth millions fees with Märklin without recognizable use, read the reproaches, how the trade paper from company sources experienced. However of the international consulting firm Alix of partner is back-demanded a seven-place sum.
Klaus Reiners, the speaker of the Federal association of German management consultants, called controversies between enterprises and advisors opposite the trade paper most unusual. It is no case well-known, where one consultation each had to pay funds back, said Reiners. The financial investor Kingsbridge Capital, which took over Märklin 2006, did not want to express itself to the procedure against Alix. With Märklinkennern however the project encounters large agreement. " It becomes high time that someone klopft" those times on the fingers; , a manager said to the trade paper. " Which at money rausgeschleppt here, stands nevertheless in no Verhältnis." Alix did not deliver a comment on request. The enterprise came in the middle of 2006 to Märklin. The redevelopment specialists settled accounts already in the first six months seven-place. According to business report 2006 Märklin paid 5.13 Mill. euros for consultation - in this sum however also achievements of attorneys and PR-strategists are contained. Altogether the payments for Alix lie according to insiders between two and three Mill. euro. 2007 were reached a similar order of magnitude. Coworkers and business partners of Märklin miss a return. Alix painted places, closed a work and shifted production. But 2007 remained the loss just as highly as 2006, and also 2008 will write the enterprise no black numbers. Now still Mill. euros at the personnel would have to be saved for five. On a workshop meeting few weeks ago one said, Märklin in the first half year had been temporarily insolvent. For Alix Märklin is already within short time the second case, in which an enterprise stands after the consultation before the same problems as before. Also the Bavarian sock manufacturer Kunert writes further red numbers. Exactly as with Märklin Alix provided a redevelopment concept and sent its advisors into the management. An internal document, which is present the trade paper, lists: Alix man Detlev looking bell let himself pay for his activity with 17,500 euros per week, its colleague Luca Ramella required 10,000 euros per week. Two additional Alix advisors were accounted for with 22,500 euros per week. The shareholder Philipp Steinhauer called this on the general meeting " immorally hoch". Kunert goes it to the redevelopment through Alix still more badly than Märklin. The conversion fell since 2005 by 16 per cent on 87.6 million euros. The yearly deficit 2007 increased to more than 14 million euros. When redevelopments it is obviously unwritten law that enterprises and advisors praise themselves mutually over the green clover. Thus the Kunert supervisory board thanked you publicly for the excellent job, which Alix had made. Märklin owner Kingsbridge struck Alix for the work with the model course manufacturer Märklin for the turn around price of the yearly pre the Alix kept also prompt. Kingsbridge sat in the jury. Whether this is brought up for discussion with the demand against Alix, is open.

Oh they could be OK now, after all they have become consultants.  From what I hear, see and read that is a cozy "profession" with variable standards; perfect for people who like to have things fluid.

Kingsbridge must have looked at the results, compared them to the projections provided by the “consultants” and decided that a refund was in order. It will be interesting to see what an “amiable agreement” provides for.

Or they just were outsmarted by a consulting firm…;):);)

Sure Marvin,

Are you still under the delusion that they’re on the same level as “your friends”?

Never having been a consultant, or for that matter directly employed/hired one, I don’t know if they actually promise results or if they just talk a good job, instead of doing a good job.
Either way, I find it remarkable that Märklin chose that route, more so after reading the comment from the spokesman of the German consultants association who mentioned that it was very unusual and he wasn’t aware of any refunds ever being paid.

Wellllll there is always a first time! Stands to reason that an apparently exceedingly lousy job calls for unusual steps.

No, they’ve got a ways to go before they come up to the level of “my friends”!
