Cool build, Vic.
Primer applied, tried a test of the silver paint I have, it looked TERRIBLE! it’s a metallic finish silver and wow it looked bad. I primered over the test and will have to get a non-metallic silver. Shrugs.
Looking really cool Vic. What a fun piece!!!
Well I had an explitive filled evening. I gor a can of matte aluminum paint. Same brand as the primer. Sprayed it on… instant crazing! Like big cracks, AAGHH! To make matters worse, while I was trying to figure out what was going on, I knocked over the spray can which hit something that poked a small hole in the side, sending the can rocketing across the driveway! Sheeeee-ooot! What a shitty evening.
After trashing the can (bag in a bag) i took the car inside and began to carefully sand the crazing off, then I hit a test section with a bottle of Tamiya Flat Aluminum acrylic brush applied, so far look like I will be able to salvage it. Shit Rust-Oleum paint, I should have used Krylon.
Oh no!!! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)Here’s hoping salvage is successful.
Trying to stay on the positive side. No promises about finishing on time.
Sounds like a terrible, no good kind of day! On the other hand, Tootse is looking awesome!
[edited to spell Tootsie correctly! d-d-d-d-d-doh!]
Did I miss something, I didnt know you were doing tootsie also.
Sometimes the idea of how to do it just hits me and I am compelled to build it. It hit me late last week and I used Sunday to put it together, the only reason I did so was that I was able to put all the parts aside and start building quickly.
Good News, a little more sanding and I was able to brush coat the whole Silver Fish in Tamiya Flat Aluminum paint, huge relief to me.

Toots (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Body painted, phew. Might need a second coat or some touch ups but after the Monday Night Panic, I’m pretty darn happy with it. The overall tone will be more even and consistent once I hit it with a clear coat. That will be after I add detail paint and some lettering. Getting close.
outstanding!!!
So cool!
That is gonna be great Vic, Gonna be heck, it already is(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Vic, amazing. Although I’m not a whimsical guy, I really like this build. Its odd, but odd with character and that’s good in my book (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif). Also, what is the red contraption in the background (orange arrow below)
Jet engine, duh!!!

The red one is my Miks Challenge from 2015, the Red Comet, powered by stinky cheese gas and piloted by inventors extraordinaire Wallace and Grommit. I’m using the same drive mechanism on this model as well.
unreal, you have a history ( track record ) " no pun intended" of being sick in the head, love it , carry on, Bill
Windows painted, name plate attached and…Toots is almost finished as well. Both have a few more things needed to be done but I am glad I’m early as I don’t know how much time I will have next week to work on it. Pics Monday.
Huzzah, the last piece of the puzzle arrived today, a scale Porky Pig, about the right era version no less. Looks perfect in the cab of Toots
