Very good. I like all the interesting angles and roof lines.

Impressive to say the least John.
A little real world Top Gear practicallity regarding tall vehicles in motion, I think Jeremy’s creation bodes well for this project.

The fun begins when they hit the road. I can’t wait to see the video of this strolling down the tracks (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Uh oh Vic. I think I need to put some carpets on the first floor…carpets made of flat lead weights! And I’m not kidding! Something to act as “ballast,” like the car weight with the motorhome two stories high above it. Maybe some extra lead weights attached to the undercarriage of the flat car too.
If you have any of those self adhesive lead tire weights, those could be descretly placed on the underside of the flatcar.
Also make sure your trucks rest flatly side to side on the bolsters, they can rock up and down back to front but they need to dead even side to side, that will help eliminate any side to side swaying. This will be a fun one when finished.
Okay then! First of all…I CAN’T STAND THIS CHAOS ANYMORE!!!
SO…that’s better!!!
Now…on to the build…I am making progress. I am hereby officially applying for the overnight extension to Monday morning!
I see a late night tonight in my future.
Still, all in all, I think once the roofs are on the entire build will pull itself together. I’m getting there, oh boy.
And finally, here’s a picture from the movie. I intend to put stand-up pictures on the opposite walls from some of the windows to fill out the overall impression of my build.
Thanks for looking. I’m enjoying this entirely too much, and neglecting other things entirely too much, and time is running short to say the least, but that’s why they call it a challenge I guess!
I think there should be a separate prize category for who stay s up the latest tonight! @((^&%%^$967%^$#@$
This is totally cool! It is much harder to make it bent and crooked than straight! Well done!
They make some nice flat weights for pinewood derby cars. Can get them at Michaels or anywhere else pinewood derby cars are sold
The first thing I did after finishing the Red Comet was to completely clean my work area including a thorough floor vacuum, the first complete cleaning in a while. Great build but I still wonder about curves and mild breezes with that .
Vic, so far it’s balanced. I shall see what I shall see when I run it around the track! I’m holpeful. I’ll take a video and post it when it goes for it’s trial run tomorrow morning, and whatever happens happens. It will be officially on tape!
I can’t wait
John, load the bottom with lead…it will stay upright… Interesting build, and who woulda thunk ya could find plans…
Totally amazing, I feel like a conformist! (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Still an hour and a half before Sunrise…PLENTY of time, right??
I must be crazy. Eleven hours straight to finish this…are you kidding me? My kids just shake their heads.
Just a few detail to clean up, like put the chimneys on, fill out a couple of windows, put the trucks back on, mount the couplers, that’s about it. No problemo.
Here’s some pictures, which totally suck. I took them about an hour or so ago before I finished up some of the supports and all. Now I really have to get into some better light for the final pictures.
I made the chimneys out of a yellow drinking straw. Oh well, it’s all I had handy that is cylindrical.
And now the work desk is a complete wreck again:
Thanks for taking the time to look this over. See you in the final picture discussion post.
Unfortunately there will be no running of the build today out on the layout…we got four inches of snow last night and it’s too dang cold. Maybe tomorrow or the next day; the temperature are supposed to warm up and, while the snow melts quickly here, I’ll probably need to shovel the track.
John, at least there will be nice soft snow for it to land in if it goes over! That looks incredible! Can’t wait to see the “final” shots.
This is just to cool
You’ve taken the term “Mobile Home” to new heights. (pun intended) Or would that be a RV? ( Really Vertical )
That crazy building looks so good I think you need to build a few more. You could build a logging camp out of them. Deliver them via rail like set out cabins and get your boys to work. LOL
Nicely done John
