If the USD continues to gain strength against the EUR then if W is to be the ditributor, perhaps it will still be economic to grey import everything? That is if W are as expensive as people say they were last time they stocked LGB in the distant past. Of course, they may have to become a little bit more competitive if they are to shift product in these economically challenging times.

Europeans say i earn money, Americans say i make money, and since Silvergate has the sole right to distribute in the USA they will make money. With that low $ and Silvergate, i guess LGB items will be expensive in the future.
LES DITTRICH, you mentioned grey imports, “Black forest gifts” is a firm which does direct import from Germany, in the past they always had a big LGB selection. The days where Train-World sold LGb items for a reasonable price are gone, we better get use to it.

You are reading that chart backwards. The lower that line goes, the stronger the dollar! (try the “invert” button.)
And you need to find Märklin’s announcement 16 Oct 2008. They now own the North American rights.

Since spare parts are a byproduct of the regular production runs … I doubt that they are at the top of the list. They will more than likely happen as the different products are run.
