Large Scale Central

Lord help me, my mind is running again :D

Aaron … I can see you doing a two shelf layout.

A mine below ground with a shaft to the upper level and moving product from one to the other! (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Naw, not a separate 2 shelf layout, a 3 shelf layout, connected with temporary cog railway track, that can be removed when not operating… That way, he can have a point to point railroad, with an intermediate town in between… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

lol oh dear, now you two are really giving me ideas, especially a cog railway like Mt. Washington setup haha I actually though of doing Gn15 or 1.20 on O guage 2 rail on a ledge running between a couple mine structures or something. Ohhhhh the ideas…

hmmm, there is no door to close that space…

could you put in another board, to reach 35" wide?

if yes, i got an idea for you.

a faller e-train circle has an diameter (outside to outside, including overhang for rolling stock) of 35".

it runs on 32mm (0 gauge) track, but is about 1:22 or 1:24. (it was made to go with playmobil)

only source for that nowadays is ebay.

I like the thought, especially since I wanted to try 2ft gauge in g scale, but unfortunately this is in a hallway, so I cant bring it out that far without really blocking things up

edit: take a look!

Aaron,

If its in your blood, its just natural to have these feelings. HLW has the basics for you to kitbash without a major outlay of $$$. How about hand layed track and a couple of push carts to satisfy the craving. You could work on styrofoam, if you have access. This has got to be a real challenge for you. How about a static model of your log loader, would that satisfy the craving?

Hey Ric, good to hear from you! HLW would probably be the basis for most as other cars on the market are pretty high, and probably handlaid code 250 or something as I could just ship down some rail and spikes to start with. Anything railroad wise would have to be shipped in as there are no model trains here of any scale that I have seen. Still in the thinking stages, but probably something simple to cut down on cost. Hard to get the railroad bug out once it has bit that’s for sure lol

If you use a ‘fiddle stick’ with that shelf, you should get something useful in that 6ft.

(…or maybe, 3 parallel tracks with a ‘sector plate’ fiddle yard.)

I see no post in over a week. Has any decision been made yet ? Maybe a Hartland mac turned into a shay or home built logging engine of some sort. Do you have conventional electricity , or will you have a power issue ?

No decisions yet, been to busy to think on it lol. Power is no issue, I have a couple outlets placed right into the back of the shelves. Probably would be a short switching puzzle or something. that way it could be made on a few 2ft sections or something for easy removal. Rolling stock would most likely include a kitbashed Mack or something as it would be small and cost efficient, also short stock like kitbashed hartland 4 wheel cars, Bachmann side tip wood ore cars etc… Was looking at the LGB field railway steamer to kitbash or an LGB Chloe or something, but wow, that would break the bank lol

Edit: double post
