LGB 2001 Gandy dancer troubles?

“I should see what happens if I put it on my railroad (which is just straight 24v DC). That little motor might not like that!”

Mark;

Don’t know which version is used for more current production, but the Bachmann handcar I purchased about 15 years ago had the same “pancake” motor Bachmann once used in their lower-quality HO locomotives. I sold the handcar shortly after that - with a warning beforehand to the new owner concerning the whimpy motor.

Dave,

I have one of the LGB 2001 handcars that Todd was asking about. I know I ran it on my indoor temporary layout using a PH Hobbies 24v 3 amp pack and it did OK.

Mark;

Sorry, both the LGB and the Bachmann were being discussed in this thread, and I got a bit mixed up. The LGB version has a much better motor. I still have an LGB and a Lionel. Though not as accurate looking as the Bachmann car, the other brands do seem more robust.

Have fun,
David Meashey

I guess I’ve been lucky my 15 year old LGB hand car is still running great.
