Love the gasolene pump in the picture! That rear axle would be a good candidate for the HLW wheel differential set they used in their little Rail Buggy. Iāve got a couple of those around here somewhere. At one time you could buy one for about $25.
Just wanted to thank Ken for having us all down. It was a fun weekend and really good to see some faces I hadnāt in quite a while. Also, I finally made good on getting to Kenās, it only took 4 years!
As for Rosters conversation picture, I remember standing there having that conversation, but for the life of me canāt remember what we were talking about. I do like the theories you guys have come up with. Maybe one of them will jog my memory.

Yes it would. But unlike the M1 and M2 did not pull freight cars or do much switching. My whole infatuation with the EBT and the M1 was its versatilllity to all passengers, mail and freight.
The M1 is a powerful beast for its size and build.

Ric, M-2 was a failure as it wouldnāt stay on the track. It was sold or scrapped after only a year. Thereās a White truck frame under the modified trolley body. And a chain drive.
I agree that the HLW buggy axle drive would work. I acquired a Bmann railtruck so I have the front truck too. However, the HLW rail bus with 2 trucks powered would make a good option.
Donāt get too carried away by M-1 and freight. It occasionally pushed a hopper around the yard, but the only thing it took out of the yard was coach #8, which had roller bearings fitted (still does) for that purpose. GAL will sell you a complete M-1 body kit, but you will have to fit 2,000 rivets yourself. And find 8ft trucks with 33in wheels, which is why, i think, Kevin went with the 44-tonner trucks.

Been awhile since Iāve seen the photos, but I thought I have seen a picture of M-1 doing some switching at Mt. Union and at Orbisonia. My memory is of a box car being shoved and then there is the pictures of the M-1 with a coal hopper. Understand, my memory is sometimes quite creative and I have even imagined I have more friends than I really have. So any thing is possible. The poor guy who did the drawings, thatās who. Actually, they are all in matching patterns, so once you count the rivets alongside one window, then just count windows and multiply. I think I estimated 1,500 per side. Have to know what to order from Grandt line, right?

Iāve seen the photo of M-1 pushing a hopper onto the retail delivery trestle at Mt Union, and Phill Glass confirmed he had heard of similar small shunting activities.
Phil was the custodian/Driver for M-1 before Courtney Brown. And you will appreciate this as owner of the pair of boxcabs. Philās nickname was āThe Evil Dr Philā.

I always enjoyed animated conversations with Phil. He was pretty close to incapable of hearing from riding next to the engine in the M-1. I asked him once why he didnāt wear ear protection and he told me that would prevent him from hearing the valves. Right around the turn of the century, I was able to spend many trips with Phil as he propelled the M-1 down the track. Most of the time with the bulkhead in place, but once with it removed, as they were working on the backside of the engine at the time. The EBT M-1 is a traveling museum by itself.

Iām pretty sure thatās āthe bibleā for all EBT fans: Edit: Nope. I remembered I am in MD where all my EBT books are. It was P152 of āAlong the East Broad Topā by Donald Heimberger.
I replied to the message. Basically, I did the drawings in Visio and exported them to DWG and DXF files. Plus I āprintedā a set of PDFās that can make up a full-size side and end drawing. Not sure I ever bothered with the back drawing!
Thank you Pete. Went back and reviewed my EBT Books. Been awhile since Iāve had them open. Wow, still such great stuff! Your drawings are really good. For years, I carried a 1:29 Doodlebug around in our travels. What a beast of a box to find a place for. 30 inches for a 1:20.3 M-1 sounds massive. At Kenās, we watched and somewhat helped Randy load his EBT equipment in their Subaru. His son, Ryder, really wanted just too much room for his legs. The hoppers are bad enough, but imagine the coaches. I had #29, #3, #12, #18 and #20 to carry in 30" boxes, two at a time. I set them up to stack in the car and on a trolley so I could wheel them across the Cabin Fever show floor to Mikeās track!
