The railroad looks real nice Matt , great job . As far as the bush i’d give it to my wife to replant in the front of the house.
Thanks Andy. Oddly enough, it doesn’t move. I don’t know if it’s the brand I’m using or what. But when the yard flooded, the mulch stayed, except where the little church will be. Some of that moved. But storms don’t seem to bother it. I wanted to use low growing ground cover, but we won’t be living here long enough for it to take over.
Thanks Mike! Yeah, the more I look at it the less I like that bush. It will be relocated. I picked up 9 more dwarf spruces yesterday. I may go grab a few more tomorrow.
Catching up on your progress, Matt. Nice work!
Thanks Ric!
Took last weekend off from all work. I ran trains and did a little work to the layout.
Put out a couple oil rigs. Here’s one of them.
Robby called and said my church is in. So, I’ll go up next week and get it. I think the chessie hoppers are due in as well. The church will go where the house is.
Built the county road grade crossing for the church.
Utility Poles installed
Even though the grass hadn’t filled in the cemetary yet, I went ahead and put the tombstones out
Looking good, Matt…
Thanks Andy!
There really hasn’t been any progress. The fear of packing up and moving sooner than later sorta put a stop to progress. I still think I will go ahead and build my town sometime before the weather gets bad. In the meantime I had been hoarding track. lol. After a few beverages sunday afternoon I thought it would be a good idea to extend the mainline. lol.
I thought I would have gotten farther along, but I had some friends stop and and all work stopped.
The track is level coming off the layout and is sitting on the ground in last couple pictures. I guess I will have to have a small grade to get it off the ground. I’m not going to do anything permananet. I just wanted the mainline to be longer. So there will be no scenery, just track through the yard. There’s enough room to get the push mower between the track and the fence too. I really should have worked on the town. lol.
Nice extension, Matt… Is this the ““Spur to nowhere””??? hehehe…
I remember when we first ran on my layout… Where the bridge for the Hilltop Sub is, there was an 8 foot step ladder, with a 10 ft bridge from hilltop to the step ladder, so we could get past the switch and run the other track… I named that Bridge ““Sudden Drop”” bridge, cause, if you went past the rock, it was about a 6 ft drop to the ground…
lol. Pretty much Andy. I knew that the ground was higher at that end of the yard, I just didn’t realize how much higher. I’ll have to find something to put the track on anyway. The blocks are just temporary. I was wanting to have it done yesterday, but had company.
Ouch! that’s a drop!
Luckily coming off the layout is just a little more than a foot off the ground. I will have to use some bridges there. There is a drain on the other side of the fence that water runoff goes to. It’ll just be nice to have a longer mainline. My trains have gotten long…not something I planned on. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)
Matt, your freight cars have expanded due to excessive moisture… Just leave them out in the sun for a few days, and they will start to shrink again, that way, your trains won’t be as long… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
Nice drag strip…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Cut Cousin Matt some slack!
Can’t you guys clearly see his wife kicked him out of the house with nothing but a VERY small cooler of beer and his trains!
What the Hell else is he gonna do?

Oh, gee, now how many of us haven’t been there? I was going to do short, narrow gauge trains, with a roster of 9 locomotives MAX. 40 locomotives, and over 70 Aristocraft boxcars later…
I feel your pain buddy. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-smile.gif)
Andy, I left three grain cars out and they started to rust. Who knew plastic could rust. lol!!
Ken, hmmmm…I do have quite a bit of track. That might be entertaining. lol.
Thanks Cuz! I had to refill that poor cooler multiple times. lol.
David, my original plan was to just have a very small loop and run my bachman steam engine with 5 cars. I’m not sure what happened. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)I’m not even sure how much rolling stock I have. I only have 6 engines though. If I say only, that sound better…right. lol. Come to find out, I had A LOT more track than I thought I did too. I think I have enough to go around the fence then cut back at an angle from the opposite side of the yard. I just need to find some way to get it on the ground without making it permanent.
Matt, I know exactly what happened… You and your dad showed up at my house for an Ops session, and you inventory expanded… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)
lmao Andy. I think you may be on to something. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-surprised.gif)Speaking of Ops. I need to get your way again. It’s been too long!
i have said this to someone else , but I hate you guys with your huge back yards!!! lol. My 48by 36 “L” shaped yard I have to work with looks tiny compared your acre of land! You are still thinking you will be moving? Wow thats going to hurt to have to pull all that hard work up. You planning on taking the blocks too? Keep it coming Matt, enjoy watching the progress.
Pete, yep we still are planning on moving. I’ve thought about pulling up all the blocks when it comes time, but there are A LOT of them. Sooooo, I’ll leave that up to the realtor. If they say leave them I will, or pull them up if they say so. Thanks! Oh, and lol @ the big back yards. Andy’s wins that prize!
Wait… there’s a prize???
