Just imagine if that branch was a cow…
You were lucky, loggers called them Widow Makers because they rarely make a sound …
Out here it has been the wettest Monsoon season in a dozen years, the ballast is ok, but 80% of the dirt has washed off my tables! I tint it for the location so it’s not jut shoveling it up 2 feet. Grumble, grumble.
I kid.
I’m glad you are ok and keep the trees, it’s even hotter without them!

It did give me an excuse to clean up - but man, is it ever hot and humid!
When I first saw the picture of that limb, I thought, “Oh Shit!” Looks like it held up fairly well.
I thought about inviting you up a few times for an Ops session, but it’s been the same here, when it’s not raining.

Heh - I keep wanting to invite you down just so you can experience some REAL humidity! But, then I’d have to be outside, too. No way!
Thanks, but what we have is REAL enough for me…

Well, still hoping for a fall ops session with you. We’ll see if I can get out there and do some work sometime. If only I was retired, I bet I’d have enough time…oh…wait…

Could be just a mid-west thing, but here in the East, I keep any and all cows out of the trees.

I seem to recall a story of one jumping over the moon, but they never said where it landed

Ack! The acorns are back. I’m sure there’s some sort of pattern, but they seem especially heavy this year (moreso than last year, that is.)
On the plus side, both the humidity and temperature are MUCH lower than just last week.
We have a large crop this year as well.
I also noticed there size …very big …
Is there a layout somewhere under there?..
Mom was saying the acorns are unusually heavy this year on the Woodland Railway, too. Keeps the deer happy, apparently (and off of the greenery).
Later,
K
Dang lazy squirrels here - they sure don’t help clean up. Apparently, sun flower seeds are MUCH tastier than acorns? Or, maybe I just need a couple hundred more squirrels? So far, the best way I have found to clean these up is to use my shop vac…
Based on photographs…it’s every ten years?
Here’s a shot from 2007…
I don’t remember how I handled THAT!
The year of the acorn ? Do locusts follow 7 yrs from now?

I’ve never seen locusts here, but we did have cicadas a few years back - I think THEY show up to make you appreciate the acorns more.
I have a critter who sits on my front steps eating acorns , and not cleaning up after it’s self…Ahggg
A tree rat?
A coon?
