Sorta, itâs just that the 'merican & canuck terminology is totally different. We donât get crusher fines or stonedust or lime stone around here. But I think I know what you mean. I can get some 1/4" minus which is a clean product (as opposed to just screenings straight out of the pit) it has everything from sand up to 1/4". I can then just screen out the 1/4" stuff as itâs too large.
OK so perhaps this may help⌠I was out today railfanning the CVRR after the crew came through and laid new crusher fine limestone ballast. Thought about startinâ a new thread but decided I would jack up Shawnâs since it already was started and the title says it all.

Then all hell broke loose! Witnessed a jumper but the local law got him talked downâŚ(suppose he saw no guard rails?)

At first the crusher fines looks like all dust and no rock. Once it is put down and watered the very small rock starts to show. The dust is what holds the track down.
Dave got to love the look of a fresh layer of balast. I hear roosters like to use that stuff as scratch is that true. Mine loved it.
By the way where did Shawnette go?
Thanks David thatâs about what I am gonna come up with after I run it thru the screening plant.
OMG! That looks alot like Fr. Fred, after they got him down I hope they offered him some holy water

The fines look better to me, cleaned up nice
The fines look better. But I use 1/4 inch. Crusher fines wash out in heavy rains here. The 1/4 inch stays put.

Son, your ballasting is coming along fine⌠A bit more practice, and ya can come help your popâs ballastâŚ
Andy, did you say Rooster could come get some of Dads ballast? You sure youâre doing ok? Soft spot maybe?

I managed to get a little more done before the heavy rain moved in. I built another smaller mt/hill on the back end of the layout. I was hopping to get some plants from lowes today but i guess its too early yet. They had nothing. I have to get a few more bags of top soil and fill in a few more spots. Ill try to get some pictures tomorrow if the rain stops
Shawn said:Our Lowes was spotty this weekend (plant wise) but very busy. They did have some early veggie plants so I scooped up some Buttercrunch Lettuce. Were hooked on it. Not as dark as Romaine but not as light as Iceberg..Very good taste for lettuce. Most of the rain missed us and pushed east. We have many local sources for plants round here but the lettuce looked good.

I hate these family squabbles.
Shawn said:I had luck with that until a record rainfall last year. I am finding that a bit of Holcim portland cement mixed with the crush and run (TN term) seems to do wonders!

With all this nice weather I was able to get more maint and projects completed. I rebalasted most of the track until I ran out. I also added another rock mountain and a siding off the engine house. I did a little more detailing to the yard area. New mountain built along the main line.

nothing like details to bring a little life to the pictures. Nice work Shawn. Guess since you got a little ass youâre feeling your oats!
Nice!
Junk looks good.
I like the fuel bin too.
