Large Scale Central

I have a very good question I KNOW that TOC can answer for me!

I dropped MacAfee many years ago and went Norton.
Until this last go-around.
The 2006 was “spammier” than the pop-up malware!

Then, we discovered in the malware forums I am on, that Norton is a memory hog.

It just flat slows your computer down.
Plus, Norton hadn’t “caught” anything in a year.

So, I demanded (and got) a full refund on 2006, spent 2 days after I uninstalled it cleaning all traces of it out of my computer (it hides everywhere), including the registry.
Computer speed about doubled.

Then, I loaded AVG Free (note the “free” part), and it’s just fine.
Catches stuff, updates daily, doesn’t slow down the computer…

And Now Back to Our Show…

Yeh, I was wundrin what happened to the lawn mower problem.
I’m still trying to figger out how to disconnect that damn kill switch under the seat of my John Deere rider. I’ve unplugged it and joined the wires together, but still it won’t run unless your ass is in the seat.
It’s all hooked up to the parking brake somehow. You have to engage that with your toe, then you can jump off to open gates, etc.
Oh, as to internet safety, I dumped Norton and Macafferty and tried the Beta Microsoft Defender.
It works like a charm. I’ve had no problemo’s what-so-ever with spyware, pop-ups, and all that other internet mumbo jumbo.

Wait until you get the latest updates…

As Tony pointed out, the automotive dimmer switches are “push on/push off” and would therefore have the potential to complicate things.

What you need is the same kind of foot operated switch, only the variety used for starters in antique cars, sirens on fire trucks, and other applications… making it a “momentary” version.

JC Whitney probably has eleven varieties.

Using one of these momentary jobs, you drive the automotove relay circuit Tony mentioned … and it should all work.

You’ll note that Tony’s schematic above still applies … you just replace the switches in that drawing with relays that serve the same function… and use your foot switches to operate the coil side of the relay.

Bart,

Shame on you.

Aren’t those ducks supposed to be in a row?

Got some today. Haven't seen anything different yet. But the days not over yet.......

Numerous reports (including yours truly) of this one forcing it’s way past the “notify-do not download” updates.

Then it re-booted, and I lost all data on screen.

System restore 24 hours, booted up, it reset it AGAIN.
Only way to kill it was in Task manager.

It’s some audio Echo Control that’s been out for a year, somebody decided to make it a “critical update”.

I consider it a Hijack.

Some IT guys are reporting system problems, programs that don’t work, work wrong, damaged one guy’s program and he cannot reset the specs.

I always want to know what they are loading into by computer (SQL Server 2003 was one…about 3 or 4 months ago…and I don’t even have that…).

Make sure all your stuff works and be ready for a system restore.

Some sites are recommending turning auto updates off until they get a clue.

Dave ,
This “Echo Control” . Is that what it comes up as on Task Manager? I have an echo on audio on downloads , but can’t find “Echo Control” listed in the task manager .

Long nap!!! LOL

Hi Mark.

The switches I have are certainly not robust enough to be used as foot controls.

If you cannot locate momentary only spdt switches that are robust enough, you could use the two switches you currently have, to operate the coils of two suitable spdt relays.
Wire the three relay terminals as per the diagram.
