Still raining. Like a cow on a flat rock!
I think I’m gonna need one of those fancy (expensive) DR Weed Whackers before this episode is done. Or, perhaps a swather like I used on the farm to cut hay.

Guys, you have just been given a great chance to learn how to avoid mowing grass…over the years, my mowers have been getting smaller, and less expensive. True, I have had to purchase a proper gasoline powered trimmer, but I now can get by with just a 20 year old 18" electric lawn mower.
How has this happened…very simply by building more railway…the more railroad you have; the less lawn you have to maintain.
I never feed my lawn, or water it. The roots go deeper searching for moisture, and don’t die during their natural dormancy period of going brown…they grow back when the rain comes.
Weeds in the lawn are green and look just as good, as grass…just mow them and avoid chemicals that cost money and don’t help the lives of our song bird friends.
Sit back and watch the neighbours fighting to have the best lawn on the block, while you save money and relax with a cool drink…and have fun operating a better railroad.
Fred.
I’m working on following that plan Fred.
I’m already there, Fred. I have no lawn grass as we think of it, only grasses native to this area. Sadly, they like to reach an amazing height with the spring rains. Think “amber waves of grain.”
There are a few weeks in the spring when I have to whack them down to a respectable height, or I can’t find the railroad. I can’t afford enough track to put all of this under rail, though I do have a respectable amount that way.
So, it has stopped raining.
Grass is now knee high.
The belt came in and is installed.
The mower deck is back on the garden tractor.
I used words that would have made the Bos’n proud.
During all this falderal, I forgot that the damn thing needs fuel to run.
I got about an hour’s worth of mowing done before it quit.
Still have another three hours to go.
It takes longer to mow when the grass is knee high.
Will get the fuel tomorrow, I’ve had enough for today. I’m following Ken’s advice with a couple of fingers of Maker’s Mark.
That is all.
