I DO believe that ALL the manufacturerers need to be more honest with new people coming into this hobby about what equipment will work on whatever radius track you will be using…
My AMS coaches are the longest 1:20.3 I have and they do fine on 8’ dia.
BUT, not pretty.
Well, 30 inch radius is a pretty common, somewhat tight, radius in HO. Scaled up to 1:29, we have a 90 inch radius, just a bit shy of an 8 ft radius, not diameter. Actually, it would be a 15 ft diameter curve.
When I started out in Large Scale, some 15 years ago, I did the math, and decided that the tightest acceptable radius would be 5 feet (10 ft diameter). Most of my curves are at least 10 ft radius (20 ft dia).
If you do the math, a 20 ft diameter curve in 1:20.3 is really tight in 1:1.

Nick,
Vinny said it was the wheels that were hitting the coupler box.
Joe, pay attention to what Nick wrote. He described the accepted remedy for wheels
hitting the coupler box.
Hey wiseguy Steve,
Nick edited his post AFTER I posted to him. Wake up!
I blame Rooster!

You get compliments BECAUSE they are beautiful cars.
Wish they would start to produce more. Hard to find lately!

Take another look at your contract. Paragraph 5.B.3.c, hereafter known as “The Fine Print.”
For $150 more than the current LGB mogul pricing, your new loco appears to be an excellent choice.
Please offer your further evaluation as to overall running, handling turnouts, ease of lubrication, and fragility of detail parts – some locos are nearly impossible to lift, store, and use without damaging parts.
I have not seen this loco reviewed in the REVIEW section prior to your comments - a good place.

Will do!
I have to put some locktite on a few screws that everyone mentions will come loose, and then I need the temperature outside to come down a bit!
Hopefully I will get to run it in the next few days.
It’s a brass loco with fragile detail parts, and some of the eccentricities of this type of loco.
The motor is not a pittman thankfully, so it can take heat buildup and work hard.
Keep the running gear screws tight.
You can add some weight and it will pull a few more cars.

Vinny, Glad you worked out all the bugs, Nice looking loco hope you have many years of fun. Regards, Ron
It’s a real pity that over here, where we are just as faithish customers of AccuCraft, we never get these deals…in fact, back a while, when you all were getting the freebie box of SS track from Arisocraft, the stockists here were selling it as if it were ordered stock.
Caused some REAL unhappiness among the rowers, I can assure you.
