John them good old fashioned doctors are a dying breed. Nowadays its lasers, iPads, and pharmaceuticals out the…
Wow. Just when you think YOU have had enough to deal with…
Keep up the hope guys. And, keep encouraging each other - that’s what it’s all about.
Well John it is what it is. Hes just over 50 and works three days a week. I dont blame him, must be nice. Spends the rest of his time in a cabin in the woods. I’m not mad I’m jealous. Hes been my doc for 21 years.
The new guy may actually turn out to be better. One visit with him and I was very happy.
From my YouTube subscriptions, something about brain and spinal fluids from last year for fun and education:
How Does Your Brain Clean Itself?Neuro Transmissions

Your body is constantly cleaning itself and destroying strange things that wander in. But the brain isn’t connected to that cleaning service. So how does your brain take out the trash? And what’s that got to do with Alzheimer’s Disease? Turns out, scientists made an incredible new discovery this year. They discovered the glymphatic system - your brain’s garbage disposal!

Interesting you mention this. While they are not sure what really causes Psuedotumor Cerebri the leading idea is a breakdown in the glymphatic system. Since it primarily effects people that are overweight the leading theory is that fat in the brain plugs up the membrane between cerebrum and some vein in the skull that carries the spinal fluid enriched blood throughout the body where it is absorbed by the bodies cells.
The body produces a lot of spinal fluid daily. It is constantly making it and reabsorbing it. In my case it does not absorb it so fast as it makes it. This is what causes the intense pressure. So the glymphatic system they believe is impaired. But they have not been able to confirm it.
That video was great. Explained a few things I have been told but didn’t really follow. One big key factor in PTC treatment is sleep. It has been associated with sleep apnea. But was just believed to be a comorbid condition of obesity. Now since I also have/had sleep apnea it was considered important that I use my CPAP to make sure I get my sleep. Unfortunately I see no benefit one way or the other with it or without.
Devon, all I can claim is that my intuition said, post this because it is related and relevant, so I did.
Update us if you could … been thinking of you… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Well,
Friday the 30th I will be in Seattle at the Seattle Neuroscience Institute (Swedish Hospital) for a consultation about how to drain the noggin. I am hoping to have at least one option which I am pretty sure I will have. I was told they don’t review your case and give you a consultation if they don’t think they can treat you. So I should have a plan of attack on how we are going to go at the problem again.
I also developed an interesting infection in my most recent surgical incisions. This happened two months after the surgery and they were completely healed over. Two of the three began to get tender and then started developing blood underneath them. They finally ruptured and one was a little thing that is now healed. But the other has left quite a large crater in my belly. I can easily stick my pinky into it up to the first knuckle should I be inclined to do so. I will not bore you with the discussion of how this happened as most of it is Dr. BS for we have no idea. It is not the first time I have this problem, it happened in August and was the reason for the shunt removal in the first place. Now that it has opened and drained off some very nasty dark bloody puss looking stuff and a few tricks thanks to a friend it is healing up. It was damn sore for about a week. It is feeling much better now. As a reoccurring problem I am hoping to speak with a wound care specialist in Seattle as well. See if they can come up with a reason for it.
Other than that it is the same old drill. Permanent headache, ringing in my ears and blindness. Eyes are what bugs me the most. Even though I still have good vision the going blind isn’t fun especially when I am used to having eagle eyes. I really notice the degradation because I am used to stellar 20/15 clear vision. So fuzzy 20/20 with blind spots seems horrible even though people with bad eyes would probably pay to see as well as I do.
Oh man… I’m so hoping and praying for you to find your way out of this mess.
The cancer board is reviewing my case today and I’ve been told to expect a phone call on Friday …
A big day for us.

Lets hope and pray Friday gets us both some answers on how to treat our particular problems.
Devon, just have them put a spigot in the middle of your forehead, than you can self drain when the need arises. K.I.S.S.
Glad to hear you are going to a “bigger” city, where hopefully more and better options are there for you. Hang in there buddy!!!

Thats funny. I just put a beer tap with the letters CSF (Cerebral Spinal fluid) on my Christmas list.
