Ready for track inspection. I have just remotored this little beastie. The previous smaller motor was over powered by the battery pack and the bus went airborne on the bottom curve, 7ft radius, so a partial rebuild was necessary with bits and bobs in the undergrowth. new motor is much more powerful but still too zippy. It’s belt drive and I cannot get a bigger pulley on the axle so will try with reduced voltage.
The bus is made of those bits that did come in useful one day! Motor from a model truck, pulleys from a tape player, front truck and rear axle assembly re-cycled Bachmann. The body is clear acrylic with a plasticard overlay and the hood scratched from brass sheet with a grill from a kitchen sieve. Radio gear from the same model truck. Total cost cheap and a lot of fun to make.

Oh, I’ve run lots of trains on OPL’s (Other People’s Layouts), but only a night photo extra on my own, and that one did not cross Indian Hill Bridge so most of the layout has not seen traffic this summer. We were a bit busy to have an “end of summer steam” day last weekend. So, with fall like weather upon us more and more here in north central Indiana. Here is todays end of summer steam special. Pausing at the depot where a gentleman is “hawking” his snacks to the crew in the cab. Engine is a Roundhouse Fowler class, fresh out of the back shop from getting her frames stripped bare and repainted red. As well as a general clean up that was badly needed. Still need a proper lantern on the top of the smokebox, but alas they are on back order. Cheers Mike and Michele T
I guess my contribution to a “Summer picture thread” is what Steve McKenzie posts on the “Operations” thread. Mike Hamer and others have posted “Hundreds” of photos, from our operations, but each week he seems to find a story or two to tell in pictures, of our fun, and fellowship, enjoyed each Saturday morning. Our weather is steadily “Being GREAT” and may last another two Saturdays…we hope, or even more as Henk speculates…!!
It has been a great Summer for us, and I hope, for others too. Thank you, Ken, for starting this thread…lots of great fun is being pictured here.
