Large Scale Central

Hello

Xavier, welcome aboard.

What do you use to stain/weather your wood?

Thank you very much.

This model of Rocket, is in 1/26 scale, but I was modified the axes to fit in 45mm gauge.

Originally it was all in plastic, but I replaced almost all the pieces together. I do not like the parts that simulate wood. The same for the metal. The engine was a problem, but ultimately, the solution was drastic. The electric motor moves the arms of the pistons, and these the wheels, as in the actual model.

On the other hand, please excuse my poor English. I have not practiced it, since my last visit to the USA (3 years ago).

A very warm greeting.

Xavier

Steve, to stain and weathering the wood, I use various techniques, depending upon the result desired. Above all acrylic colors dissolved in alcohol gel in proportion to 1-1. Then, some details with oil painting. Some details are carried out with the technique of crackle. A layer of acrylic base color, plus a layer of crackle and then a final layer of color content. If you are interested I can try to put a little tutorial on how to make a water tank, and then become old rust. Greetings Xavier

Welcome to this Forum Xavier.

Your modeling is superb: a great inspiration to anyone who views it.

It is good to have another European here by the way.

Welcome aboard and that is nice work. You’ll learn a lot here, I know I have And how did you weather that sign on the building?.
And your English is fine.
