I really liked the way you abused that poor little Porter, but them chuffs seam a little deep for the small cylinders on that thing.

Hi Dave.
It is actually a British 0-4-0 that I was able to find the sound recording of. Thought it wasn’t too far off. Still looking for a recording of a Porter’s whistle…any ideas???

If memory serves, “Talkies” were not widely used until the early 1930’s. I was there. Yes, “The Jazz Singer” was made in 1927, but that was just an experiment. It was a great movie, too.

I still don’t know how you got talking movies of that 1920s sugar plantation Doc, but however it was done, it was worth the effort.

Today, I started some more modeling on my On30 mini layout of the 1920 Haitian Sugar Train.
I have been working on the rural Leogoane section. After the completion of the Rhum distillery I thought I should focus on a little more salvation than damnation.
My good friend Father Andre Augustin is the Pastor of a Parish with outlying Chapels in the area of Ranquitte Haiti. Here are some photos of the St Paul’s Chapel in the Haitian hinterland.
It is a nice simple structure and I have been setting in the footprint of the model I will make of this Chapel with the selective compression I have used on all the structures of this small layout.

Hmmmmmmm…wonder if these On30 trains will count for the 2016 Mik’s Challenge??? A few ideas swirling around in the head after a few drinks of that good Barbancourt Haitian Rum.
