GPH waterfall?

There is a few more pictures that may help you (or not) in my pond build:

Don’t know if you looked through it or not.

This is actually the fourth pond that I built ( three were for me, one for a friend).

Not saying I know everything about building a pond (far from it), but they all did turn out to be enjoyable.

My other (2) ponds actually had to be destroyed with my old train layout after I moved on to my current life! But I did get to enjoy them for 8-years, and the fish in this pond came from my old ponds (about the only thing I won in the divorce!).

Yes, I was watching your build. The trouble for me is, I wanted a small water feature and it seems that smaller doesn’t mean less work I guess. It appears that if you want water, you may as well go big or go home!!

Thanks for sharing your build by the way. I didn’t have a clue.

You will figure it out as you go, sometimes you just need to take a step back and look at everything and then try again!

I still build my ponds the less expensive way, using the pondmaster pumps and the flex tube that you can see inside the pond…but it works.

The real pro way to do it is by using the built in pond skimmers (just like in a swimming pool) and the falls style filter that I linked earlier.

Using those all of your tubing is buried in the ground so you don’t see it inside your pond, they also use much bigger GPH pumps…and they come with a bigger price tag.

I still have not felt confident in installing one of those setups so I stick with what I can get to work!

In this picture you can see that I have (3) returns that flow over the waterfall.

Video clip is needed!

New challenge! How to post to u-tube etc!!!

I have never posted a video before, I will have to figure it out soon!

Well Vince, just put the URL up there. One of us here can figure it out how to get the screen to show up…

Vincent,

It’s easy. You just use the tags and place your youtube video url between them.

Like this

Note: Do not use the *. I added them so you could see the code.

Well I stuck the 2000GPH pump in and did a quick test with the hose slid on. There’s a nice flow of water out of the water fall box and it looks good. I’ll try and get a video if it ever stops raining!!

Okay, here goes my first real video post, hope this works!

Here is a quick video of my waterfall taken with my Iphone:

And my fish wanted to get in on the action!

(didn’t feel like taking the net off of them, but they didn’t mind)

Some real pretty fish. Ours have spent the last week spawning. Drives the dog nuts - she thinks they are going to come out of the water after her.

Nice …I see I going to have to get me one or two yellow ones. I have most of the other colors, but the Yellow ones sure show up nice. Nice work.

Here’s mine in a quick mock up:

That looks good, I would suggest putting a slight angle on the first rock the water fall lands on. It may help cut down a bit on the splashing and keep the water flowing better down the rest of the fall.

Thanks. I actually thought I’d move them all around. I just don’t like the looks of all the gaps and other stuff. I bet I could spend hours getting them right. I found that one rock with a bowl like shape and figured it should go there. Now, I’d like to fine tune them all.

Have you ever used that foam stuff for securing them? I was hoping to get rid of the gaps with it. Or I’ll spend hours moving rock.

I’ve used the black foam a lot. It works well. Just make sure that you use old clothes and shoes, because that black stuff gets on everything and won’t come off. Wear throw away gloves, too.

Just remember… Less is more. You can always add a bit more, but any excess is wasted. Start with just a short “pssst.” You will be surprised at how much it expands. Maybe just a “psst,” until you are familiar with the stuff.
