Google account

"Now users who joined their YouTube and Google Accounts together … "

I don’t remember doing that.

Reference to having to log in to see videos:P

You can make videos private, and there’s some other options, such that others cannot “find” them unless certain requirements are met.

I’m not going to research them all, just to state these kinds of situations exist.

When did they do that? All I need is another password. I can’t remember the ones I have now Let alone new ones. I’m sick & tired of all the passwords and little boxes with odd #'s & LETTERS IN THAT YOU HAVE TO TYPE IN. SICK AND TIRED… I don’t remember much after that. That’s a whole nother story, one that goes back about 56 years. :open_mouth: David

whats the advantage of having a google account? you can keep using youtube.

beyond that I havent found another single thing worth mentioning…

We use GMail, google docs and google calendar all the time.

Hmm… We have pay GMail at work. I wonder if that is considered a Google account. I’ll try it.

EDIT: Nope. When you pay for a Google log-in it doesn’t count as one :frowning:

You get GMail. Very good I might add.
So I guess they’re trying to bump up the number of GMail accounts.

You don’t get a gmail account automatically - though I wouldn’t be surprised if I signed in to google, went to gmail, and it invited me to pick a username! They do make it easy.

I have a Google account as I use Picasa for pictures and Google Sites for free website hosting. Check out the slide show at the bottom of this page:
http://www.ebt-in-fn3.info/.
The slide show is a free Picasa plug-in, and the website is a free google site - the URL (name of the site: “ebt-in-fn3”,) cost me $1.50 for a year. I have at least 2 other free Google websites (they are so easy I keep forgetting.)

The Youtube thing was a bit clumsy. I have no problem with them deciding that Youtube shouldn’t have a separate login, and it now asks me for my google login, as the pics above show. (One less password to remember.) But for folk without a Google id, why not just take their Youtube info and create a google account for them seemlessly?
