Large Scale Central

Good Weather activates construction crews

Okay we have the “Wye” panel wired up, will give it a try tomorrow.

Today i cranked out a “done in a day project” to deal with excessive snow melt that is dripping down on the wye junction. Sort of a stop gap measure.

Well that’s cool. I almost did the same thing at my “escape hatch” this winter. Darn icicles kept dripping in the track.

Thanks Jon, I had some cedar fence planks laying around and a boatload of nuts n bolts, so I ripped down the cedar on the table saw and bolted the whole thing together.

Today I am going to try my hand at PVC Lath ladder work and lay a 16 foot test section at the one leg of the wye that doesn’t have track. If the test is a success, I will actually be able to use the wye and assure my attempt at wiring worked.

My brother-in-law, brother wife and I are going to bring in a skidsteer tractor in two weeks to try our best to knock that 8-10% grade out of the proposed loop in the back yard. This outta provide some cheap entertainment for my next door neighbor.

My steepest grade so far is 5 percent. The only steeper one will be the siding that will run to the ore mill but it will only be serviced by the Shay.

Okay today we laid down 24 feet of subroad bed and 20 feet or so of flex track. This makes the “wye” fully functional and I was able to test my reverse loop wiring today and it worked as designed. I am headed down the road to gather some more decomposed granite. (sorry about the crappy photos, came off the phone - should have used my regular camera)

I’m pulling out my ladder work. Get frost heaves every winter, despite the poles going down 36". I think if it I was all ladder, it would rise at the same rate all over, but I have a section here and there. Worked on the west side this weekend, leveled the landscape blocks the track runs on and re-did the storage yard with SVRR switches.

well we are suppose to get snow again over the next couple days… delays.

Cold and rainy, here.

At least that is my story, and I’m sticking to it.

well we got a few inches of snow, however the sun is out today and not a cloud in the sky.

So does it look like we are bringing in the civil engineers and heavy equipment in for the grading project next week or do you think the soil will be too wet? I need A to take a group photo of all the Buildinz by Myke and put them up as a homeless family picture looking for government assistance and a place to live. LMAO!

Well I would like to move forward with the tractor, but the boss needs to make that call. If its not going to happen, I am itching to go to Dan’s open house in Az.

Doug its time to move some dirt! The snow is gone, the soil is not too dry, not too wet.

My brother-in-law’s guys are coming in the morning with a bobcat and we are going to try our best knocking the potential 8-10% grade out of the east end of the yard.

My Brother the model builder, our trusty assistant Leah and Otis the dog are showing up to help the wife and I try to get this underway without incident. Perhaps we may even come up with a plan on where to eventually place some of the buildings. After we move some dirt I will try and get a photo up.
