Garden Railways Magazine issue

I agree that damaged magazines are a post office issue, but the one time I had a damaged Garden Railways magazine, they immediately sent another copy out to me. They were very responsive.

Ed

Just got mine today:)

Mine arrived yesterday shredded by the post office.

E-mail to Garden Railways has the promise of a replacement issue in mail to me soon.

I am still waiting on mine, my guess is the weather has everything delayed… I hope

I’d agree it’s a PO issue- In the 30 years I’ve been at this address, I received the wrong mail no more than 2 or 3 times in the 1st 29- This last year has been a bear- Damaged mail, wet mail, No mail, and/or incorrect mail 2 or 3 times a week! Carrier moral must be in the pits… yet when I go to the Post Office window, they are nicer then ever, and seldom a line, even before xmas!

I have been a subscriber for more than a decade. Only lost one copy an it was quickly replaced. The problem is with the post office and not GR mag. Regular subscribers are highly prized in any industry.

Ok What is this Gazette?

Is it Narrow Gauge G scale?

Or is is HO and smaller?

JJ

All scales non mainline prototype.

The best high standard modelling magazine in the USA.

JJ

If you are thinking of Narrow Gauge Gazette magazine, it’s generally for the smaller gauges but, and there is the but, it can have interesting things for all gauges or scales. It is mainly logging, mining and short line railroads.

I dropped my GR subscription a few years ago. I would like to buy it online but they have no intention of offering it at a reasonable price.
When i was a subscriber two copies got "lost’ but were promptly replaced. I even got two copies once.

Except for the now-defunct Modeler’s Annuals, the Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette has been my favorite railroad modeling magazine ever since I first “discovered” it back in 1980.

Gazette…great read…great info…and beautifully produced as well…

Stop taking it about ten year ago. Got to be more advertising then reading. When they first came out it was a great magazine. I can fined just as much on the web.

Don

I still enjoy GRR. I like to see the layouts and read the articles. Yes a lot of it isn’t what I’m into and there are a lot of ads but I still enjoy the read. My favorite is the narrow gauge and shortline gazette because it’s what I model and a very well put together magazine. I also enjoy the narrow gauge annual and the logging and industrial annual but they have gotten hard to find.

Terry

Has anybody tried the digital issues? I do like the idea of keeping digital copies instead of the paper ones.

I enjoy GRR, but I also have only been in this scale for about 3 years. I always find something interesting or new that I didnt know before. I also get the Gazette and enjoy that for different reasons.

It really is a matter of opinion. I would say that if someone is interested in this hobby, they should pick up a copy of GRR.

Bruce I have the digital version for Garden Rail the UK magazine. Im not a fan of the digital. I find I don’t read it as often as a hard copy. Im on the computer enough as it is. Its nice to site with an actual copy.

I really enjoyed the Annuals and will miss it. I like Timber times and the 16MM Today. Ron you might like the 16MM today. It deals with a lot of steam more UK based but still very good stuff. I never got into the Gazette mainly because it it deals with all indoor railways and no live steam… I rather read outdoor railroad stuff. I also enjoy steam in the garden.

I will check it out, thanks

I subscribe to both the Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette and GR. NGSLG is by far the better of the 2 for content and quality of material not to mention sealed in a plastic sleeve. Timber Times is also a quality product IMHO.

My subscription to Garden Railways and Classic Trains comes due in June this year. Classic Trains is gone for sure and I have mixed feelings about GR. The first thing I turn to in GR is Kevin Stong’s column. Otherwise, GR is mostly an advertisers catalog…

Shawn, the last issue of the gazette had a scratch built live steam 0-4-0 in 1:20 scale. True they tend to cater to the narrow gauge indoor crowd but you never know what you’re gonna find in there.
