Galvanic Quackery!

Ray, at least in San Diego, track power is pretty easy. I’m going to try to infect you with DCC when we finally meet up. I’ll be at the open house at Bob Treat’s in San Diego on Saturday, and will also go to the Al Bahr shrine for the convention on the same day.

Maybe we will bump into each other.

Regards, Greg

I still use gel cells…some are over 8 years old and still hold a charge for as long as I leave them.
I always charge them up as soon after an operation as possible; so they are ready at any time.
All my locos are self contained, but then they are all steam profile tender locos…

This is the first I've heard about either of those events. Can you give me more info?

Bart,

I once saw a guy that made hats being interviewed on TV. He said he once made a hat for a guy that wanted to be able to wear it into any bar and be in a fight within 5 minutes. Bart, where did you hide that hat?

Ya just gotta stir the pot, don’t cha? Off the mountain and brought a new ax handle to boot. Going to be another good weekend.

Ray, open house at Bob Treat’s in san diego, via San Diego Garden Railway Society, which I am re-joining after a few years off…

The NMRA Pacific Southwest convention is it the Al Bahr convention center, 163 and Clairmont mesa…

email me tonight at [email protected], will give you my phone number, and more info.

Don’t know how much LS stuff will be at the convention, but I always learn something…

Regards, Greg

Bob Treat has one of the nicest GR’s I have seen.

The detail is exquisite.

The RR is battery R/C using VCS Realroad.

Met Ray at Bob Treat’s today. Beautiful layout, looping back and forth. His mountains are incredible. He was running Airwire, just started a couple of weeks ago, ran a Shay and LGB Mogul today. Very nice guys (Ray and Bob).

Bob wants to do operation, will have to return for operating session. He converts layout to point to point, yard at one end and wye at the other.

Ray, you might post some pics of Bob’s layout, and PLEASE post some of your’s, your layout will be super.

Even the rain quit for a nice day.

Regards, Greg

Will do, soon as I get them developed. I didn't get a lot though, as I spent so much time visiting and just soaking it all in!

Thanks! I can't post photos directly to the forum, but I do have them on my website:

It was great meeting you today! We’ll probably be going to the SDGRS picnic tomorrow. Should be there around 1 p.m. or so.

I think I’ll sit at home and drink bheer…instead of tooting around and creating polution.

I’m giving up all power and track. I’m attaching a string to the first car of the train, and am going to pull it up and down my street.

…then sit a while, deciding on which of many brands of bheer to enjoy.

No noise.....no derailments.....no frustrations

so what if a coupler breaks and I come home with only one car.....sombody else can tow the rest around if they find them.

Nonsense! Just take your laptop – lithium battery powered – and hook it directly to the wiring powering your rails.

…seems to me it would be less expensive, and more fun, dangling several pieces of old brass rail in a jug of failed whine from a DIY whine kit, and using the few volts from the “Arrangement” to power up a “Z” Scale loco…Don’t drink the “Fluid” afterwards…!!!

…it won’t work with soda pop; sorry guys…!!!
