Front yard layouts: What advice from those who have done so?

Wendell you have to go with what you feel is going to be best for you.

I love my layout being in the front yard. More people get to see it and enjoy it. I don’t worry about my dogs eating it and I’m not worried about vandels or things being stollen. All that can happen just as easy in a back yard as in the front. Only thing is more likley to be seen doing it in the front yard then in my back yard so I personally feel safer with it n the front yard.

Now no matter were you build it you should keep a few things in mind. Things I wish I would have kept in mind.

  1. serviceing the track and trains. How easy or hard is it going to be.
  2. getting supplies in and out of the area being worked on. (6 yards of dirt in 5 gal buckets not easy)
  3. lighting and power to the layout.
  4. getting water it the plants and such in the layout.

Things like that you need to keep in mind as well as the other stuff that people have said.

Once again I love my layout being in the front yard. But I know that is not for everyone. Good luck and keep us posted as to how the layout is coming along. Also if I can be of any more help let me know.
