“Some of Canada’s rail barons seem to have convinced themselves that memories are already fading of the Lac-Mégantic disaster that snuffed out 47 lives and shattered public confidence in rail safety. A year later they are peddling the notion that Ottawa should get out of the industry’s face and let it do business as it sees fit.”

Hard to know what, or if, those barons are smoking. But going on readers’ reaction to reports of the baron’s wishful dreaming, I’d say it will be a long time before those memories fade.
