Finally, A working train

Devon,

This topic has to be re-mastered every time the site owner makes an upgrade to the software. For this incarnation the procedure is…

Grab the embed code from the YouTube video (directly on the video): right click in OPERA (copy embed code); right click in FireFox (Copy embed code); right click in Chrome (get embed code);right click in IE (get embed code).
In the reply window click on “insert/edit video” button in the top row (looks like a movie frame), and select “Embed”.
Paste the embed code (copied from YouTube) in the box and click “OK”.

That’s what we all found works now. Some day down the road we will have to find a new way for new software, but for now this works. Have fun!

Well that was easier than doing my signature. . .lol. Thanks Joe. That is much better than linking to it.

Devon,

Now you’ve got it. If you continue doing videos with your phone, try turning it sideways next time. I think it will be a better prospective. (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Yeah I figured that out out already when I was doing the editing. It really is annoying that way. So next go I will turn it. I want to build a phone car. I think I am going to build a boxie stick (not sure if thats what one should call a selfie stick that you mount to a box car or not) a mount for a box car that can ride behind the loco and shoot over the loco for a first person perspective. Its been done I know but it would add a fun element.

Great feeling, running your own BIG train at last, eh? I know zackly how it feels. At my age, I do just that every time I fire one up. Nice to see the old ‘canoe’ livery there, as well.

Back in 2005, mrs tac bought me the definitive book on the NP by Dale Sanders, and right there, on page 26, caught on the first day in service, was SD45 #3629 outside the doors of the Mississippi St shops in St Paul. I got Shawmut Car Shops to replicate it for me, and you can see what a great job they made of it right here…

Pal Larry Jackson from PDX brought it over for me that same year - another great friend among many great friends we have in this wonderful hobby and pastime.

I’ve just sent Steve a bunch of stills, in case he’s feeling generous!

Best to all…

Terry,

Did you ever notice that the front truck on the forth car is derailed? (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-undecided.gif)

That SD is pretty.

But I have to say my NP high nose 9 is slated for the chopping block. When it emerges it will be a chopped nose 9 painted in the St Maries river Railroad colors. I am waiting until I have another operational loco (I don’t want to be trainless again) to run before the surgery begins.

Pete the sound track dies down toward the end and you can hear it, then it resumes. I know that the only way I can see it full screen is by clicking the youtube button and viewing it directly from there. I am new to the video thing so forgive the lack of professionalism. For one thing it was taken with my phone maybe I need to turn my phone sideways would that help for next time?

I am pasting the Youtube link in the video link. I am not using the embedding option. Should I be embedding it instead of linking it?

Devon,

Yes, if you want it to post in ‘landscape’ mode (instead of ‘portrait’ mode) you need to hold the camera sideways. I have video editing software so I can rotate a video, but its not a common feature, Yu should also decide whether to record in wide 16:9 or regular 4:3 mode - you’re currently wide-screen.

I bought a flexible stand to hold my phone while taking long videos. It came with a neat little bluetooth remote that the phone thinks is a keyboard and that turns on/off the video, or takes a photo if you are in camera/still photo mode.
