I’d love to see a modular building product this year. When I was a kid there was a lego knock off called “American Brick” They had brick detail and mortar lines on each piece. Nice windows too, if I remember correctly. Surely not scale but I would love to find them again. http://www.architoys.net/toys/toypages/ambricks.html

LS Trains in a Garden Center...what a novel idea.......

Hey Mike, they have an entire theme park in So. Cal. built from Lego’s…so why not a carrier…
Hey Ken, They have several of those in Europe, complete with trains, waterways etc. etc. BTW at the MRR shows up here both LEGO and PLAYMOBILE are a better draw than the “happy mix of things” on the LS display.
THe post that mentioned the need for 0-6-0s, 2-8-0s and the like really struck a chord with me. I’ve advocated this for a long, long time, but we seem to be hung up on the big and somewhat useless bruisers. You have to have a layout on football field and at least 100 cars to do them justice.
And another product line which I would like to see is a line of steamers based on the USRA designs - but in semi-kit form. By that I mean borrow a page from the USRA book and market a basic engine with the running gear already built up. Then furnish - or have available all the goodies to hang on it, depending on your preference. It might even be feasible to furnish said “kit” with separate boiler courses, which would allow the builder to mix and match within limits. That’s exactly what the USRA builders did. Look at the PRR K-4, or the Erie K-5. Both borrowed heavily on the USRA designs.
And while we are at it, why not consider - say - a small 2-6-6-0 utilizing the aforementioned basic parts. In my fanciful scheme of things it would be possible to design and build your own engines.
Now let’s see, where did I stash my funny cigarettes ???

A German modeller has built a Lego model of the carrier Harry S.Truman. ... Of course , scale maniacs will deride it because real ships are not made from little square(ish) blocks. Mike
Well , I think he should’a bilt it from tree trunks cut down by hand , finished by seven virgins by polishing the wood between… erm .
It cost this fella 20000 dollars , he did it on his own , .The theme parks----I have two within 6 miles of me ----have staffs of dozens and free bricks . Now , I know free brix ain’t many , but it’s a start .
Mike

There is a Canadian version called MEGABLOKS http://www.megabloks.com/
They made the news up here since they successfully won a case brought by LEGO in the Supreme Court of Canada.
Those Ambricks look pretty nifty, too.

Bring on Stockwell (aka Doris) Day for target practice.

The Messerschmitt Bf 109 was a World War II fighter aircraft designed by Willy Messerschmitt in the early 1930s. It was one of the first true modern fighters of the era, including such features as an all-metal monocoque construction, a closed canopy, and retractable landing gear.
The Bf 109 was the standard fighter of the Luftwaffe for the duration of WWII, although it began to be partially replaced by the Focke-Wulf Fw 190 from 1942. The Bf 109 scored more aircraft kills in World War Two than any other aircraft. At various times it served as an air superiority fighter, an escort fighter, an interceptor, a ground-attack aircraft and a reconnaissance aircraft. The Bf 109 was produced in greater quantities than any other fighter aircraft in history, with over 31,000 units built. Although the Bf 109 had weaknesses, including a short range of early variants around 400 miles (640 km) on internal fuel as drop tanks were not standardized until the E-7 model appearing in mid-1940, and a sometimes difficult to handle narrow, outward-retracting undercarriage, it stayed competitive with Allied fighter aircraft until the end of the war.
Now, that’s a model with a WOW factor…!!
And I’ve seen some beautiful models made from match sticks…

After a few of his stunts, he got renamed “Doris”, even some of his constituents found the nomiker “cute”.

You might be happy to know that the real Doris Day is alive and well…somewhere in her early 80’s…
......while "Stockboy Day" is alive but how well depends on what meds he might be on, any day you choose.
To think that he was head of one of our political parties, makes me see us equal to you guys down south, with some of the twits you seem to like voting for !!!!
Yes, Doris Day; the one good singer I've managed to still like. The rest of the screamers of today are not worth the time to describe.
I remember Doris from before she became a virgin . Always liked her .
