I’ll check flights in the morning. You don’t charge for board and room do you??

He’s got a warm and inviting shed available…
Nope! But expect to put in 8 hours of slave labor
Furnace is working great even without everything being closed in. Tonight it was easily holding it at 67 while it was 41 outside.
I took advantage of 60 degree daytime temps to paint the new front wall. I used leftover paint from the CT house. The color is just slightly darker than the primer. I’m working up a color scheme using all the same colors as the CT house. All shades of gray.
how many shades? 50?
I noticed that Bachmann are selling an HO version of the open passenger car made from a steel boxcar.

Not sure what they used as a prototype. It’s not very close to the actual “rider cars” that recently were returned to service with rebuilt trucks and brake systems.
It’s looking petty festive around these parts already. Christmas in Coal Country trains start a week from Friday. This view from my kitchen window. The one I took from the deck in a 40mph gale was over exposed, as was I.
Might could be these Jon,

Just a quick web search for Vermont outside braced cars
The next 4 weekends will be pretty busy around here. The East Broad Top Railroad’s Christmas in Coal Country event kicks off at 4PM today with 13 departures each weekend! That means a steam train will pass my back yard over 100 times before Christmas! Many of the departures are evenings and several after dark! The Rockhill Trolley Museum is also running these next four weekends with their Lights, Camera Trolley’s and Santa Trolley events. What a great time to be here!
EDIT to add: This is not my photo - stolen from Facebook.
With a little snow this week the railroad has taken on a great winter look and with cold temps, the steam is great! Train 1 usually leaves with the cylinder cocks open creating a nice cloud as it passes my back yard. Last week I had no camera with me. This week I was prepared…
The first train returns. Same day, different camera. This was my cell phone, the Northbound shots were with the DSLR in auto mode set at ASA 400. I wanted the DSLR for continuous shooting. The phone is too slow but a lot brighter in similar light…
You might note that Caboose 28 is starting to look pretty shabby. Caboose 27 is currently in the car shop with it’s roof and siding stripped off. It will be re-roofed and get new wood T&G siding. 27 will go into service when done and 28 will get the same treatment. Both will be painted in common carrier freight livery.
Fantastic shots, Jon!!
I really like that shot of the engine taken with your phone! Looks good enough to frame, to me.
That looks like my buddy’s son Josh on 28?
Might be, but does he have a beard and glasses - not that I remember. A little out of focus when zoomed in…
Edit to add that I got a reaction to the caboose pic I posted on on Facebook from Josh, so it probably is him!
I love this shot,
For some reason though, when the train approaches your place, I hear the conductor saying “And around the bend folks, watch for Mr. Rooster in his Spiderman thong.”
A couple of nice pictures came across my feed this morning.
Josh and his father said “Thank you” .
We are going to ride the Friday 5:30 train. If I see Josh I’ll be sure to say hello for you.
