I see an elderly, distinguished-looking gentleman who appears to have had a bath as recently as this past week or so, but I don’t believe we’ve been formerly introduced. Who IS he, Doc?
Tom do you think I could borrow this contraption this Spring? I have some chipmunks that mess around on the RR and leave half eaten acorns in my long tunnel. Not a “Barr” but pesky none the less. LOL

That is Dan the designing man. He drew up the plans for the "contraption ". He hardly breaks a sweat. No log bucking or tree felling for this guy. Strictly a pencil and paper guy at the shops. Tom

Colonel Townsend will rent this out with a very nice per diem rate for LSC members. The boys are in the varmint riddin’ business now. Tom

Thanks John. Trying to make this extremely Tall Tale as believable as possible has been fun for me.

Builder Photos Time
Colonel Townsend beamed with pride as the final mechanism for the trap door was installed in his “contraption.”
Soon it would be time to catch the monster bear GOVOLS and get him to the zoo with an overall increase in revenue for Colonel’s logging outfit in the Smokies.
Your going to need a bigger bear trap
I got more bad news, that last pic, I don’t think thats a bear, it looks like a beaver! A honking HUGE beaver!
HOLY SMOKES! IS IT A GIANT BEAVER?!?!?!?!
OMG Run that will build a Hoover sized Dam that will flood half the state!

Thanks for the info Vic. Strange things are happening in these here Tennessee woods.Sure is some strange doings going on.
Doc Tom
Ok I took my adrenalin pills and mixed them with some espresso, Whew! I’m much calmer now.
Well Tom whatever’s running around up there is mighty frightening! I think we need some better pictures of that thing to determine if it’s a Gophbear, a Bearver or just simply Bearzilla!
I would suggest sending some of those pesky investigative paparazzi type reporters into the woods to find this thing, just tell them this thing has been dating Gwenn Stephani and you’ll have more than enough to flush this monster out. I don’t think anyone will get arrears if a few go missing, hopefully it doesn’t eat cameras so the pictures they take should be safe.
Nicely done Doc. A true rarity for sure.

Thanks Vic, Todd and Dave,
Well a brave photographer did get another picture of GOVOLS “working out” on Nelson’s Gap bridge. This beast needs to be caught and soon.

Everybody Wants In
As the LSC (Loggers Sure are Cool) “Challenge to Ketch a B’ar” was coming to a close all the good folks in the Smoky Mountains wanted in on the action.
Colonel Townsend and the shop crew wanted to bait the trap to catch a monster bear. There was money to be had and so the folks from around the mill and shops brought what they thought would be great bruin bait hoping to cash in and make a sale.
Why Timmy even brought his tame pet “Betty Boop the XXX Bear” as a suitable attraction for the big guy roaming the woods……but enough of that as this is a family site.
Is the pig volunteering or protesting. Me thinks the gentleman with the pick is making the choce easier for the pig

Me thinks he doth protest too much.

The End is Near
Colonel Townsend was mighty proud of his “B’ar Ketchin’ Car.” He had ole #1 push it to the spot where GOVOLS the monster bear was last sighted.
Using the trusty AH&D log loader he had it placed where he knew he would catch the creature. The trigger mechanism and trap door were set.
